It's time to announce the September Games with Gold lineup! On the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, take up the battle to find out if Gods Will Fall and rock the post-apocalyptic freeway in Double Kick Heroes. And for our classic lineup via Backward Compatibility, design your own amusement park in Thrillville and twist the laws of physics in the mind-bending classic, Portal 2.

Xbox Live Gold members will have exclusive access to these games for a limited time as part of Games with Gold. So will Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members, who receive all the fantastic benefits of Gold plus access to over 100 high-quality games with Xbox Game Pass.

Games with Gold sucks. Portal 2 may be great or whatever but the lineup is still trash every month. The sooner Microsoft can get Game Pass where it needs to be subscriber count wise so they can eliminate Gold completely, the better.

Portal 2 is great, but the lineup sucks.

Logic checks out.

I don't really care about the free games with gold, or PS+ or whatever, but a good game is a good game. There are probably plenty of people who haven't played it yet. If a movie service was giving out free movies to keep and one of them was "The Godfather" (I keep coming back to that movie it seems) it doesn't matter that it came out in the early 70s, it's one of the best movies ever made. And it will be for decades to come.

So Portal 2 is a good free game.

I agree with this. It's just that one great game a year or so just isn't worth keeping Gold alive in my opinion.

The games aren't amazing usually but it is unique that 2 of the older titles are permanently owned and no one else was offering that. We'll see what they do next month when they stop offering Xbox and 360 titles.

I would assume that they would have more Xbox One titles because what else could they have if they're eliminating Xbox and Xbox 360 titles?

Maybe they'll let subscribers keep any X1 titles offered. That would be a fantastic value add.

Wait, they didn't let subscribers keep Xbox One titles already? It was just Xbox and Xbox 360? I'm asking since I don't think that I have ever subscribed to Gold unless it was part of Game Pass Ultimate deal.
