New School JRPG from Atlus former staff to be announced at January 29

Compile Heart has launched a teaser website for a new “school RPG” by Megami Tensei and Persona series co-creator Kouji Okada to be announced on January 29. It is described as “Kouji Okada’s final message to the next generation.”

The game’s staff includes other former ATLUS employees:

• Project Producer: Kouji Okada (ATLUS co-founder, Megami Tensei and Persona series co-creator)
• Scenario: Tadashi Satomi (Persona: Revelations and Persona 2: Innocent Sin / Eternal Punishment scenario writer)
• Sound Composer: Tsukasa Masuko (Megami Tensei, Megami Tensei II, Shin Megami Tensei, Shin Megami Tensei II, etc.)
• Character Design: Ilya Kuvshinov

This is why P6 is taking so long….

Oh, these guys left ages ago. Most of their work at Atlus were on Snes/PS1 games like the first few SMT and Persona 1& 2.

I believe the reason that P6 is taking so long is that the main Persona team got busy making Metaphor Refantazio after P5, and the team who makes the DLCs (Like Royal) instead of taking their spot went and made P3 Reload and now might be the ones doing the P4 Remake. I'm really curious about who is developing P6 and how far it is already.

They had a perfect opportunity to go a more mature/aged-up route a la Persona 2 but it seems like they've stuck with the same ol' high school setting again. Meh for that; game could still be good tho.

I just haven't personally been that invested in Persona games outside of P2 Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. The college & grown-up work/life setting was just more relatable and interesting for me.
