Your example is crap. There were no exclusive games for these revisions of the PS2 or the PS1. All these hardware revisions of the PS2 or PS1 were still the same consoles sharing the same games library, just the opposite of the GB Color.

The Game Boy Color was a new machine that succeeded the original GB after 9 years on the market, with its own games that didn't work on the original game boy (light and pocket), like the game boy advance games that didn't work on the color.

The GBC has more than 300 games (clear cartridge) who are exclusif to GBC and doesn't work on GB.

Sure GBC has exclusives but the revisions on PS1 and PS2 can't play all the games that played on PS1 or 2.

That being said sure lets disband the Gameboy and Game boy Color
that means both Sony and Nintendo still have 3 systems each that sold over 100 million
