so the price is indeed a factor.

Sony needs to make more "ports" of flat games. The Wizard Game for example.

Sony should have at least 3 heavy hitters
1. Astrobot 2
2. Killzone (or anothet AAA shooter).
3. Ace Combat.

two wet dreams
4. Half-Life.
5. Cyberpunk 2077

lower the price AND

make it PC compatible.

The PSVR2 was released on February 22. - 5 Weeks on sale.
270,000 x $549.99 = $148,497,300
If they can sell around the same number (if) each month for 12 months that's around - 3,240,000 = $1,781,967,600
You also have to take into account PS5's sold are around or over 32-34 Million right now and as more people get them there is a higher chance of them also getting PSVR2.
The first Playstation VR was launched in the fall of 2016, and by the end of 2019, more than five million units had been sold in just over three years.
So its not all doom and gloom it took PSVR1 three years to get to 5 million.

But nice clickbait title anyways.

The only VR headset that has not been doing too hot is the one that has had its parent company hemorrhaging tens of billions to keep the venture afloat and is now overshadowed and highly threatened by Sony's toy.

Naturally, all parties threatened by Sony's headset, those with VR headsets of their own but also some without (the usual suspect) have an incentive to unleash their media plants to stymie enthusiasm for PSVR2 in any way shape or form possible. The push for attacks on PSVR2 continues, its a concerted effort that is clear as day (pattern, repetition and vulgarity give it away) and those doing it won't be satiated until make-believe becomes reality - that is, the product is truly dead in the water as opposed to the enthusiasm that exists around it.

OP being thirsty as usual for the Sony fanboy "tear" does do a service to the forum by bringing this to light.

They are porting games to Steam and got no Half Life Alyx and no CSGO2 ports to PS5....

But also, as cool as VR is, many people still don't have a PS5 and the focus for now should have been selling more consoles and getting the install base up before launching a VR unit. Would also mean the VR unit would be cheaper....

Even getting the PS5 price down a bit to give people a bit of a breather from paying 550 for the console, 80 in EU for each game and then 650 or so for the VR.
GT7 is kinda the killer app right now but you still need a decent wheel and that is another few hundred too.

I want to get it but my gaming time is packed right now and I have to prioritize things to buy that will actually be used. Late summer at the earliest for me unfortunately.

Bloomberg again and that same guy with all the bad (fake) Sony news.

Sony never said it was a metaverse push so the article is even more weird.

The headset is only available on PS Direct in the biggest markets so I don't know if 300k is good or bad.

They need software to sell it. The price isn't a huge issue.

The problem is right out the gate 90% of reviews were like "lol no games" which was bizarre, like they weren't allowed to talk about re8 or gt7.

Sony needs to put their back into it and give us some system sellers.

Damn.. no Half Life: Alyx really killed this thing

I see it as quite the opposite, for a niche product that only recently just launched those numbers seem pretty good.

I think what needs to be taken into account is the systems development costs, as soon as they meet that threshold and everything turns into profit.

The kit itself is one of the most sophisticated pieces of tech on the market and has some of the best games out there, at present there is nothing that can beat GT atm is there.

Another thing to consider is that the Ps5 supply is now available everywhere, and with that Vr sets are going to sell more.

This is just another string to Sony's already impressive array of options if you invest into their already fantastic ecosystem.

It needs much better marketing, more future games support (HL Alyx, Astrobot) and also version of some non VR games that make sense like GoW2018/GoWRagnarok.

The product is good and was well received but it did not look like Sony was actually giving it a real marketing push. I hope that this isn't an indication that Jim Ryan and Sony aren't really behind the product and were just getting it out of the way and will now just leave it to die.

PC support would be a good move imo. Time it with release of GT7 on pc which was rumoured a while back.
