That's 10x more than until dawn on steam but still not that great.
meanwhile shit and libery is like 300k players.

It is done. Players finally finished being brainrotted into gaas. They choose it over good and real games.
REAL VIDEO GAMES... not some crap.

I hope it sold better on ps5

edit: checked one and only torrent site I still have access too (not pirated a game in 15 years) and it's been downloaded 200 times already with over 100 seeders. not a lot to be honest

You're comparing a F2P game and a game that costs 70 dollars?

THIS is why we're not buying it. When will devs learn that the modern audience dont actually play games?

People shouldn't act all Surprised Pikachu when devs fuck over their fans by going for a small group of screetching, entitled idiots.

Both sides suck.

First, would love to see where you're getting 2 million from.

Second, I would love for you to explain to me how 2 million has suddenly become niche...
The same trackers that overestimate PC sales you used in another thread 🤷‍♂️
I mean I'm even using non-accurate overestimate data to show you that it didn't sold how you believe it sold.

2 million was always niche.
You have over 200 millions gamers and a game sells 1-2 million is niche.

I can list a lot of niche games that sold more than 2 million...
Demon's Souls (PS3)...
Persona until Persona 5.
MLB The Show.
R&C games.
Ys games.
Alan Wake games.

It goes even beyond games alone... genres that can't sell more than 3 million are niche.
Basically any genre/game that target and receive it sales from a very specific parcel of the player base are niche.

I will say more... mainstream games are these that break the 5 million barrier.
Because below that it is not mainstream... aka niche.

People need to keep in mind the Silent Hill games have NEVER been that popular. They weren't big sellers back in the day, and there's no reason to expect SH2 remake will suddenly put up RE numbers when Silent Hill 2 never did even between PS2, Xbox and PC.

That said SH2 Remake is doing pretty well on Steam from what I can see, and it's probably doing even better on PS5. The budget for the remake wasn't very large because Bloober are an Eastern Europe studio and salaries for studios out there are much cheaper compared to, say, California. A lot of governments out that way also give tax breaks and funding incentives for game studios, Bloober again being one of them. I wouldn't be surprised if total costs for the remake were under $40 million, including advertising.

More importantly, this is Bloober's best-received game in probably ever. No one seems to be outright hating the remake which was the biggest fear; that they'd screw it up completely and release a dud. Thankfully that hasn't happened. So, the game being a critical success is probably what Bloober & Konami are most proud of ATM, as it'll mean good WOM that will fuel more sales over the months (especially this month, given it's October).

I'll put it this way: SH2 Remake hitting 23.5K CCU is more impressive than FF XVI hitting 25K CCU which is more impressive than GOWR hitting 35K CCU, considering the expectations and budget for SH2 Remake. Bodes well for future entries.

sh2 is the most well known gaming horror IP.
It never sold well but it's been so long and it has gained such a legendary cult following, It's way bigger now than ever.

The first movie came out 5 years after SH2. The franchise entered the zeitgeist, but Konami never really capitalized on it.

Most gamers can recognize pyramid head even if they never played the games.
