PC Players of Monster Hunter Wilds Aren't Happy That It Can "Barely Run" On PC

  • Monster Hunter Wilds' Open Beta just kicked off on Steam yesterday and has drawn in a ton of players.
  • It seems that most of those players are running into a lot of performance and graphical issues, though.
  • Some are even saying they need to refund the game or upgrade their PC due to the pixel blobs they're running into.

PC players are seemingly having a very tough time getting the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta to run smoothly, with reports of bugs, slowdown, framerate problems, and graphical issues galore.

Considering Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 just launched last week and Dragon Age: The Veilguard literally came out yesterday, you'd expect either of them to be topping the Steam charts with ease. While both of those games are performing well, a new challenger popped out of nowhere and dominated the charts late last night - the open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds.

Whats your thoughts on this?

Does not surprise me Capcoms engine is not made for open world games at all. This game looked rough since the first showing. Expect bad performance relative to HW across all platforms.

Didnt Dragons Dogma 2 get fixed pretty soon after release? I thought it was a bad start that ended up ok

The game is a technical mess on PS5 too. I tried the first day and haven't gone back lol. But I've seen some PC footage and they really have it bad.... Exactly what they deserve 🙃

If the game have support… yes.
Monster Hunter games have keyboard & mouse option on PlayStation.

World had and this one has too.
In the Options you will find you can change the input to M&KB.

It is not good btw… I can’t even play that way lying on my sofa.

Ah I didnt know.
What kind of games have support? Strategy and sim games? COD?

I mean who would want to play a 3rd person adventure game with a keyboard and mouse lol. But it would be useful some other games.

Is it not good because of comfort or theres issues with the tech/compatibility?

Have you tried these?

Ill always prefer controller and couch, but I enjoy some mouse/keyboard games on pc ( sim games, total war, point and click etc) I might buy one in a few years for Steamdeck 2

At early 2024 seems like we have 30 games with support on PS5.

There are PS4 games with support too but I never tried on PS5 so I don’t know if it works.

Yeah I remember they mentioned the keyboard and mouse for PS4, think it was Andrew House.
But I thought it was another one of there say it and forget moments like how PS1/PS2 games were coming to PS4 when they announced PS4. Properly.

I guess having the choice is good for PS players on console

I'm surprised Sony hasn't put out an official kb/m for PS5 yet.

Those were marginal performance upgrades and "hack-fixes". Nothing really that changed performance in a very significant way.

As many suspected when Monster Hunter WIlds' spec sheet came out months ago and it was pretty much the same as DD2.
Performance of the RE engine with those open world titles and whatever is happening under the hood is simply not good enough. The worse part is that it's a CPU bottleneck which means that upscaling/framegen can only get you so far. It also means that even if you upgrade your rig, you won't necessarily see huge upgrades unless you're really using old hardware.

The only current hardware that can run the game in a competent manner are the top of the line PCs and that should never be the case for a game because that's a small ass minority. It means midrange/consoles are getting shit on and "potato" pcs aren't getting in the action as well.

It's an open beta. They have over four months to fully optimize the game which im certain that Capcom will get done on all platforms as the game will be huge for them. If it's not ready, they can just delay it. It's not like Capcom is forced to hit their February 28th release date.

It is on developer side… not Sony.
The developer needs to give the game options.
Same for wheels… the racing game needs to implement support.

Because the system KB/M support is just for the UI and barely people use it.

For games the PS SDK allow the developer to implement game by game.

If there was an official KB/M, there would be more support in games...

It's not difficult to do.
