I remember your posts... I always found them interesting.
I was never really on Neogaf or Resetera... I got banned from both.
On Neogaf, I got banned because I basically told someone that their stature on the forum didn't mean much, because Neogaf as a platform in itself wasn't really as "hot" as it used to be. I didn't really intend to call the person a "nobody". I just wanted to emphasise the fact that me being a "junior" (or whatever my forum status was) didn't mean a great deal to me, because Neogaf as a whole was a shell of its former self. I got banned for that.
Resetera however... I took issue with how its sale had been handled, and how "everyone" (ie the mods) was ok with it.
With regards to Icon Era... I actually sent a message to the site administrators yesterday where I congratulated them on the success of their site. I told them that if I was ever in the market for a "community only" website, Xenforo would definitely be the framework for which I would base my "community only" website on.
Alas, I have slightly more "ambitious" plans... Which aren't really community-centric... Which is why I am using WordPress as the tech stack.
I wanted my first post (which this is) to be an introductory congratulation of sorts to the site administration team... Because I think that Icon Era is a fantastic looking site, and I think the site's admin team should be really proud of what they've achieved. However, I couldn't find the necessary thread. But I did see your thread, so I thought I should reply by saying "hello" to you (as I remember you from Neogaf and Resetera).
Anyway... Enough of the slow claps... And I hope you are well.
Evilore could have been the equivalent of Zuckerberg... Except for the fact that he let his site stagnate.
Honestly... If that guy had continued to invest in his platform and community, there never would have been an exodus. And who knows, maybe there never would even have been splinter websites like DPad, XBoxEra etc.
And maybe if Cerium hadn't have run off with the money... Maybe he too could have been running things like a champ... Alas, the guy turned out to be a proper low life loser (who let everyone down).
Honestly... Both Evilore and Cerium... They had the opportunity to take the industry by storm... To really set the benchmark for all of social media. Alas, their short-sightedness resulted in them winning the battle... But also losing the war.

These forum owners are super insecure about where their community posts
It's why I talk about the idea of investing into infrastructure... If Evilore / Cerium had invested in their forums, then people wouldn't even think about checking out what other forums are upto.
The insecurity stems from a lack of real substance.
It's also why it was so easy for Resetera to set itself up as an alternative... Because Evilore had taken his users for granted, and also hadn't done any of the legwork in ensuring that his platform would offer the more superior user experience when it came to wannabe competitors.
I wonder how much he's worth. Whatever his next worth, you can see how much of an ego he has.
I got banned for "shilling" marathon. Meaning, I posted excitement about the game. He shills everything Microsoft all the time and constantly baits people. He's the reason I got permanently banned even though it was a 3 month ban. Because he posted my activity on here, over there.
It's a double standard, and I suspect his permanent Gold Member status has something to do with it. Whether he's in with the mods, or is actively paying them for that membership is a question mark.
Very likely an Xbox/Microsoft astroturfer. There's no other explanation, and GAF is happy to oblige as long as he keeps paying.

This if my first post... As I only discovered Icon-Era 2 days ago.King elf upgraded my ban to perm. Same behavior that ResetERA did when they banned me simply for posting on NeoGAF during the Cyberpunk fiasco. Those places are exactly the same, just different side of the spectrum.

The thing is... If your platform is/was up to snuff... Then you wouldn't mind so much about people checking out the competition, because you know that they'd never leave you.

I genuinely don't understand how adam isn't banned there. They've banned people for less. His constant shilling and posting of baseless speculation about Xbox as if it's fact is out of hand, but they just let him keep going. They banned Little Chicken for less. Hell, they banned you for less.
gaf loves allowing bots to roam free, adam is good at not crossing the line though and he hasn't really done anything in particular worthy of banning. but he definitely ruins the conversation with delusional positivity towards ms

Well, he's been banned there before, which is one of the reasons he used to post here before he got permed. He came here whenever he got timed out over there. Maybe gaf keeps him around to drive engagement idk
