With the European release happening this week, the new PlayStation Plus will be finally available worldwide with over 700 games from any PS generation plus more coming every month. It features 3 tiers, which are:
  • Essential: the normal PS Plus we had before, with same features (including PS Plus Collection), content and pricing
  • Extra: Everything included in Essential, in addition to up to over 400* games, mostly originally released for PS4 and PS5 (plus a few remasters/remakes as exceptions like Demon's Souls or SoT)
  • Premium: Everthing included in Extra, in addition time limited full game trials, cloud gaming on PS and PC and to up to over 340* games, basically titles originally released for PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, Vita and arcade (some of them emulated, some of them remade and the PS3 ones who aren't remakes/remasters for PS4 or PS5 are only available via cloud gaming).
  • Deluxe: Cloud gaming is only available in 30 countries, so the other ones have this tier which is a reduced price version of Premium without cloud gaming.
* = Game availavility varies per region, not all games are available in all regions

This new service replaces the previous PS Plus and PS Now, so this is how you are migrated in the moment it will be released in your country:
  • If you have only have a PS Plus sub active, you get migrated to PS Plus Essential. Same content and pricing
  • If you have only a PS Now sub active, you get migrated to PS Plus Premium, you get the content previously available on PS Plus, the time limited full game trials, newer PS4 games, PS5 games and PS1 and PSP emulated games
  • If you have both PS Plus and Now subs active, you get migrated to PS Plus Premium and you expiration date will be the longer of the two. Meaning that if you had 4 years of Plus stacked and only a month of PS Now left, or instead only 1 month of Plus and 4 years of stacked PS Now, now you'll have 4 years of PS Plus Premium. So if you have a lot of Plus stacked and don't have Now, make sure you buy and redeem a 1 month PS Now before it gets released in your country.
After it gets released in your county, you'll still be able to redeem old PS Plus and PS Now codes but they will be adapted to the new pricing: Plus did cost $60/year and PS Now did cost $60/year, so the new Premium tier that includes both in addition to more stuff it costs now $120. So if you'll redeem a $60 PS Now card (1 year) they'll give you $60 of Premium (half a year). So it's better to redeem these codes before it gets released in your country.

To make it easier for the future and avoid mistakes with the tiers, seems from now on Sony will stop selling PS Plus cards in retailer or cd key stores and will only sell there PSN money cards that you'll be able to buy in the PSN store any tier with them.

Let's talk about it! I'd suggest to talk about these topics in this thread:
  1. What do you think about the new service and its catalog?
  2. Do you prefer the new focus merging Plus and Now or did you prefer the previous one?
  3. What do you think about it when compared to Gamepass?
  4. Which hidden gems included in the service would you suggest?
  5. Do you miss any particular games on its catalog?
  6. Which games do you think they'll add in the upcoming monthly updates?
  7. If you tried the cloud gaming after the new PS+ release, which internet connection do you have, in which devide do you play and how it has been your cloud gaming experience?
  8. Please share any related last minute news here!
Reminder: with the release of the PS+ in your country PS1 emulated games will start to be added to the PS4 and PS5 store. The thing is, if you bought them before (in PSP, Vita or PS3) won't need to buy them again or to have PS+ to be able to download and play them on PS4 and PS5. The crossbuy gets extended to PSP, Vita, PS3, PS4 and PS5, which means you'll be able to download the ones you purchased in old devices in the newer consoles at no extra cost. The easiest way to find and download them is using the PS app for phones: search the game and instead of "buy" you'll have the "download to console" option.

I almost never look back at older games, so for me Extra is the best value for now, might feel cute and change that later. Probably the only PS3 era game I'd play again is Read Dead Redemption. But earlier than that, I am good.

But, we'll see. I've been proven wrong before.

Using the normal as usual, and mostly to play online as i rarely play the free games, usually not interested in, or if those are games i'm interested it's i already played and own.

I just can't wait for BC to be very expanded, including Vita, it's quite shame that Muramasa TDB isn't available in any modern hardware.

I played Guardians of the Galaxy this past week and damn, its a shame that game was passed over. It's really a great title.

Now I'm playing Iki Island on Ghosts directors cut. I tried playing death stranding got passed the first couple hours and lost interest. I might try it later down the road but for now it does not excite me.

Also Ape escape plays super well, and I spent a good amount of time in wild arms. SO all in all I think this already is in a better place than Gamepass was when it first launched.

Even Matty from Mr.Matty plays admitted that it was a more impressive launch.

What I want. More than the PS2 classics that were on PS4. That was pretty lame of them. Zero effort.
And I want much more PS1/PSP classics at 60hz

The rest is pretty great
Would also like to see the day we can download PS3 games

Can you purchase the PS1 classics separately like mentioned

How many of the remakes/remasters are counted in the premium rather than the extra tier?

Extra includes games mostly released originally for PS4 an PS5. Premium includes games mostly released originally for PS1, PS2 PS3, PSP or Vita.

There are a few exceptions like Demon's Souls, Shadow of the Colossus and the remasters of Final Fantasy games (VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XII), which are included in Extra, maybe to make it a bit more appealing.

The 'classics catalog' of the Premium tier includes PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP and Vita games that are remastered or remade for PS4 or PS5. Meaning these remakes or remasters of PS3 games can be downloaded and played without cloud gaming. And being remastered or remade, they are better than simply emulated version, at least for the games that had higher resolution and more languages in the PAL version.

During its the 2nd week in Asia they did release an update for their PS1 and PSP emulator, meaning it's possible we'll see related future improvements and fixes. In the USA release they did use NTSC USA games instead of PAL games. We don't know what are they going to do in Europe, but I assume we'll get PAL games.

I have PS+ and PS now, and it should convert to premium?
Stacked for 2025.
Yes. If when PS+ gets released in your country you have both subscriptions active you get migrated to PS Plus Premium. The expiration date will be the longest one of the two, so 2025.

Game trading & gifting should be a thing
I'm not really a pc guy but Steam really set the standard on how these things are done. I'm all for the improvement of the ps store, wishlisting and getting notifications for items on your wishlist whenever they are free or go into sale is a huge step torwards perfection.

I may be wrong but I'd bet the PS Store already features wishlisting and notifications for then a game gets discounted. If not, I'd add it.

I also think all digital stores should have a 2nd hand market to allow players sell each other games and dlc, in addition to an option to send gifts to other players (buy a game or DLC for another user).

they did, I think I expressed myself poorly, that was a huge step* but what I mean is that there is more that could still be done. I would have gifted games to my friends several times now if I could

Well, I think we're a few hours away of the European release. Do you everybody knows how many hours from now or at which hour it was released elsewhere? Are you in Europe and saw anytihng related, like PS1 games in the store, some blog post, its website or PSN store updated? Is there an update game list for Europe?
