Well, Square selling off the tomb raider devs, the NFT focus disaster and now Forspoken all that did caught attention from buyers.
That is the issue, would why would want to remain independent? Money is very tempting.
If Sony buys them it is guaranteed Square will remain independent but Sony does not have the same reach of money as other bigger companies.
And that is the sad state of the gaming industry right now. All is for sale to the biggest bidder.
Yeah it is a perfect combo, gaming publisher making mistakes while having ok finances. Like I said all that captures attention.
They would probably tell you that those aren't mistakes, with the possible exception of the blockchain stuff.
Even if Sony doesn't buy out Squenix this is only a positive development for Squenix.

Them pivoting this quickly is good. Bodes well when you see octopath 2 doing well and FF16 Tracking to be a huge release.
If they get another FF14 expansion out I think they will be on a good roll. FF7R part 2 coming on top of KH4. That’s a pretty solid slate not including dragon quest.
Yeah if anything they should make better funded AA games. They have the money and talent for it. I also think the new star ocean did well, didn’t it?
From my understanding it did not do super well. Even though it was better than last star ocean it had terrible performance.

Yeah they need to take better care of their new IP. I paid full price for Diofield Chronicles and that piece of shit was 6/10 at best, where if they had just spent a little bit more effort on it it had the makings of an 8/10 or even better.
They outsource that one these days, don't they? I think it would fall through the cracks and stop being made if Sony buys them. Honestly, I'm surprised it still gets releases under S-E as it is. Nothing for Chrono but they keep letting people do SO, lunacy.
I think SE will join Playstation. Their Playstation exclusives are not typical of a 3rd party publisher. No one can ignore that they sold their western multiplatform developers and directed their focus to be mostly playstation exclusive and mobile.
