My Switch is 90% Docked. The same would be for Steamdeck.

PS5 for me

I will buy the next Steamdeck though. Finers crossed, even stronger system. And I need a better good battery

If you mean generation changes or actual hardware degradation, neither is an issue with PS5.
While i see more problems with Steam Deck on that front.

I think it means, PS5 will eventually be unsupported by Sony and 3rd party because of the PS6 etc. Consoles always get replaced.
Whereas a Steamdeck will probably still play and have new indie games in 10 years etc, like usual PC’s.
As long as the specs can play it, Steam will allow them to buy it

Is this a parody thread? Can't be serious. If you want portable, go Steam Deck, otherwise PS5 is the most sensible choice on every aspect.

Yes, and if you choose portability, you are compromising on a lot of stuff that PS5 (or a traditional home console) offers: visual fidelity, higher resolution, better frame rates, bigger screen, better controllers, longer gaming sessions, day one PlayStation Studios releases, etc.

PS5 all the way.
  • Better games available on day one. I don't want to wait for 2+ years to play God of War Ragnarok and see all the spoilers beforehand.
Fair enough.

  • Better visual fidelity, frame rates, ray-tracing, bells, and whistles, etc.
If I'm playing a game on the OLED on the SD, the visual fidelity is very good since the screen was made for 800p. Framerates are debatable and can be adjusted. The SD is only rendering to a 800p framebuffer. That cuts down on a LOT of ms when rendering vs. PS5 having to render at 1440p (or less in some cases). That's why I said if you put the SD on a TV screen, it would lose badly to the PS5. BUT if I'm wanting to play the games on the original OLED screen, I'm getting the same experience as the PS5 or better subtract the RT. PS5 still can't do 16x anisotropic filtering while the SD can for example. Remember the games running on the SD don't know what hardware it's on.

  • Better controller support.
  • VR gaming.
Fair

  • And I can play for more than 1.5 hours without having to worry about recharging my console.
If it's plugged in to the power outlet that's a non-issue.

Size, battery time, actual first party games, exchangeable joycons, even more potato graphics, build quality, better stability ...
Size - subjective. I don't like the flimsy Switch (I have one) and I used to have the VITA. It was as comfortable as the SD.
Battery Time - yes, because the SD is more powerful
1st party games - The few games that Nintendo has doesn't equal all the PC games (indie and 1st party ones) you have access to with SD. Couple that with the Dolphin emulator which can give you those Nintendo games anyway.
"potato graphics" - ??
Build quality - Is there a reason you think the SD isn't built with great quality over the Switch? I love the hefty weight of the SD and it's larger screen and it's controller + touchscreen is better to me.
Better stability - do you mean less crashes and/or bugs?

So do Steam Deck to PS5... the gap is even bigger than Switch to Steam Deck.
I should say Switch and Steam Deck are very similar with the same purpose and the Switch is the better machine imo because it has Nintendo games.
So you rank Nintendo games better than any other game out there from all consoles? I find that hard to believe. The SD isn't in it's own ecosystem. You literally can play all games from all platforms including the Switch games via Dolphin emulator.

No, because the Steam Deck is hardly portable, it's noisier, hotter, battery life is a joke and IMO it's just a fun gimmick.
SD is noisier, hotter, and short battery life because it has more powerful hardware. Are you saying that the SD should have had less powerful hardware than it does now just because it will run hotter and drain more battery life with the hardware it has? Essentially you are saying developers should stop at the Switch hardware and never try to push for more power because it'll be noisier, hotter and have shortened battery life.

I rank Nintendo games better than 99% of games released in the industry... yes... very few games are on the same level or better.
It is that good.

Emulator breaks any type of comparison.
Because you will be playing games not allowed to be played on Steam Deck.

Edit - What Swtich games Dolphin exactly ran?

Nah. Weak rebuttal. :p

The thread is about best use of $500. So far, your arguments are pretty weak with your subjective opinion. I've proven that outside of RT, the SD can match and exceed the PS5's graphics capabilities based on the fact that it has a much lower framebuffer resolution and can be played at a constant 30FPS. It gets all the additions that PC gamers get over consoles in the graphics department. If we talk about display on TV, I already agreed it would get destroyed by the PS5. Now you have included the other portable game consoles which don't hold a candle to the SD with regards to number of games available, hardware potential and construction (OLED screen is much larger than the Switch).
