Some people think that. It's subjective, after all.
You are allowed to run any kind of executable code, including emulators, on the Steam Deck. You won't get banned from Steam or void your warranty.
That's not how any of this works
I know... you download the rom and run on emulator on Steam Desk that is illegal.
But if you dump your own rom you can use it... aka you buy the game you want to play.
Show me the receipts you are playing via emulator games you brought to Switch without having a Switch and we can talk more about it.

Emulator matters when we are talking about best use of $500.
I have been able to run Zelda OOT with higher res graphics easily. I assume that many other games can run on the SD using Dolphin.
But when did the discussion turn into SD vs. Switch?
Depends. ROMs are not legal, but homebrew is also a thing.
You can run homebrew games on the Steam Deck without needing to jailbreak or hack it.
Zelda OOT is not even a Switch game lol
BTW did you own (paid Nintenod for) Zelda OOT original rom Or Vitural Console rom (the one you executing via emulation)? Reply honestly.

In any case, I want to say I appreciate the way you argue on these forums. You are a good addition to the site man. And I mean that sincerely. You are one of the rare few that can argue without resorting to personal attacks and I really appreciate that.
No, I'm all in for advances in tech. But putting a X86 cpu in a portable device is not one of them. SD has all these problems because they tried to brute force the power into it, but with very low efficiency. Call me when we have a Steam Deck with ARM and the efficiency of a Mac Studio.
