Kadokawa's gaming department is about 95% smaller than ABK. Comparing the two, makes you look idiotic.

a 4 billion dollar acquisition is nothing compared to 80 billion. You are the only hypocrite here, as I'm sure you loved the ABK situation.
it isn't even 4B for gaming company, as Kodakawa have tons of other things, which highly important to the Sony too.

I can see it now, Bloodborne remake has sold 3 million copies in 1 day. Xbox and PC fans will say "underwhelming numbers for a highly anticipated game, elden ring sold better because it was day one on all platforms". Then Phil comes in and says "when everyone plays, everyone wins 🌈🌈🌈".

I wonder why he thinks that when what he did with Elden Ring was basically Dark Souls 4 with another name.
If I had to venture a guess, it's because they enjoy creating new worlds and game settings.

It's true Elden Ring shares many assets and gameplay mechanics with Dark Souls. However, it would be rather reductive to equate their mythos and world settings.

I happen to have his quote handy, though forgive its google translation from the original IGN JP source.

I think I said the same thing about "DARK SOULS III" in a previous interview, but basically I don't mean to say, "This is completely over." This is because I don't think there is any need to destroy the possibilities and good ideas that may arise in the future right now. However, at this point, there are no plans for additional DLC or "ELDEN RING 2." Even if it's not the complete end to the story, I think this DLC will be a big break.

He doesn't completely shut down a possibility of it ever happening, but they I think it's creatively refreshing for him and their team to change things up.

You can tell they're also trying to do some loss mitigation planning at the moment by diversifying their directorial talents. I think they want to establish the company to one day operate without such a reliance on Miyazaki and his method of story telling. Thus, establishing new IP across a range of directorial talent enables that long-term vision.

which is this mega acquisition that Sony is buying?
Read the op
Because This acquisition and Activision are on the same level... OKAY!
It's a massive Japan studio, more than just games.
Fuck off with YOUR hypocrisy. Go cry to Resetera
How is "all acquisitions are bad" hypocrisy? Cope more.

What has the 80 billion acquisition changed for MS? Nothing.
This has the potential to put massive chunks of Japanese media under one roof.
You are the only hypocrite here, as I'm sure you loved the ABK situation.
Wanna bet?

Idk why you're trying to flip this lol. Gamers saw nearly $80 billion worth of assets in this industry being told off and didn't like it. To compare that deal this, involving a company where gaming isn't the main focus is unrealistic. They get FROM and a couple small devs. That is not in anyway comparable to the behemoths of ABK and Zenimax.

This is a huge of a company to acquire, and me personally, I really hope it doesn't happen.

Knowing by how Microsoft goes with their acquisitions, it'd be an absolute disaster. Kadokawa owns so much more than just Spike and FromSoft. They own bookwalker, multiple manga/anime distribution companies. If this happens, I do truly believe creative output from the individuals who work at these companies will be cut short in order for more "data-driven, by-the-books" game design to continue. As well as priotizing Sony's IPs over Kadokawa's original works.
And as far as I can tell from all these Doom n Gloom Youtube videos posts on "why gaming sucks now," I believe it is a worse-case scenario for the JP entertainment industry if this acquisition were to happen.

Everything else you mentioned about what they own is exactly what Sony wants
