Riot will now hardware ban toxic players in Valorant

Valorant, like any multiplayer game, has a toxicity problem. But the great news is that Riot Games is taking it seriously with the newly announced hardware ban.


In light of recent events, including Andrew Tate’s criticism for defending toxicity in Valorant, Riot has announced even more severe punishment for trolls and malicious actors. The short clip of a woman getting threats in the game triggered a whole discourse around “just muting” toxic players. However, Valorant studio head Anna Donlon doesn’t think it’s a solution.

“Muting is a tool, it’s not there to justify bad behaviors,”

Anna Donlon said.


The developer explained that the current system in Valorant, no matter how sturdy, is not enough. In response, Riot Games has launched a plan that includes stricter punishment for the “worst offenders.”

I mean that by using Discord you circumvene the ingame chat and that way they can't moderate it.
The quality of ingame chat is mostly muffled shit in most games anyway.

And yes, lines are being crossed but I give 0 value to what a total stranger calls me online.
Imagine if I would be butthurt by that.

There is also a mute function in games. I use it all the time when some asshat start making stupid remarks. Pure bliss.

Most of this toxic chat and talk in online games results from one thing thing mostly- Gamers are mostly shit at playing games and fuckers come ruin ranked matches with their bumass casual play. 90% of the toxic talk immediately subsides when you apologize immediately for your shit plays but it is 2024 and apparently riot finds it easier to ban people than improve matchmaking.

Maybe I fail to see the point? If so, help me understand your view on this. All I see is Arrowhead not bending a knee for Woke Warriors and effectively giving them a gentle finger.

For example: The latest Saints Row was full of woke stuff and other forced DEI propaganda. How does Helldivers fit in this narrative according to you?
