Even most people who works at publishers like Sony don't know the complete list of unannounced games under development and who is working on each one to avoid leaks.
And they use project codenames instead of real names just in case someone uses or sees a document or listen someone talking about it. Meaning, people from accounting, marketing, HR etc. from let's say headquarters may know that the studio X is working on the project 'squirrel' and may need to hire 3 guys in the next quarter or start a marketing campaing in the Q2 of next year.
And the guy working in the marketing of let's say project squirrel from studio X at some point will know which project it is, but pretty likely may not even know what is the 'project diamond' of the studio Y that other marketing team is working on and is scheduled to be shown in the same even.
Until pretty close to their announcement, only a few people know which games (not project codenames, I mean the projects themselves) are ALL the unannounced games: in the case of Sony barely Jimbo, Hermen and the tiny editorial team who closely work with them to greenlight projects and milestones set the first party strategy.
I mean, being generous he could have a contact in a specific studio or two: let's say XDEV, FromSoftware or one of the outsourcing studios who may frequently work with them and may know one or various of the games that FromSoft have under development. Or may have also a contact in Bluepoint who may tell him in which project is working Bluepoint. But won't have a contact who knows all the 1st and 2nd party games and who is working on each one.
I mean, just making an informated guess I bet FromSoft and Bluepoint aren't working themselves on a Bloodborne remake or remaster. But I think it's possible that Sony may have asked someone else to make a PS5 and PC 60fps version with higher resolution and a few minor tweaks more, some random porting/outsourcing studio who may have previously worked with Sony or another one who never worked with them before. There are many dozens of porting or outsourcing studios around the world.
I mean, it is likely that a leaker could know one or a few project from a studio or a few studios. But not the full lineup of unannounced games a big publisher who has over 25 games under development.
Even people who have a ton of contacts in a ton of teams aren't talking with them every day, haven't talked with them since months or years ago and even less about what their projects are working on.
A supposed leaker saying 'I know this studio is working in this game' could be believed because it's possible. A supposed leaker saying 'this big ass publisher who has dozens of games under development is not working in this game' (as if he'd know the entire lineup of games underdevelopment and even in preproduction of the publisher) is bullshitting because it's almost impossible due to how things work and common sense.
He's the one who should show the receipts proving he knows all the projects where Sony is working on, not me. If he says the the Earth is flat, he's the one who has to prove it. Not me for saying that he's wrong and the Earth isn't flat.
Many words, no source. Thanks.
