[Rumor] Third Party State Of Play Soon

Genuinely hope that is not the reason, because otherwise the deal can go jump off a cliff. I don't see why it would be a factor, considering those are 1P teams Sony have had for years (if not decades) and are funding internally. They cultivated that talent over a long time of many games, how is that a good excuse for another company to consolidate buying massive 3P publishers?

Anyway, I hope this rumor is true. This might be for games that haven't been revealed yet (Hogwarts doesn't need another SoP considering it's got insanely good preorders, for example), maybe another SF6 look and open beta announcement (I hope they show off Cammy this time and maybe some additional single-player side content), another look at Tekken 8 (less likely, but hopeful), and...yeah, some new game reveals.

They may also time it close to PSVR2's release I suppose, I dunno if it's this month. But happy surprise if so.

Nothing to do with ABK. Sony hasn't revealed future first party games because their studios aren't ready yet. They have PSVR 2, Spider Man 2 and Stellar Blade for 2023. Anything else would be a surprise. Don't see any issues here especially since Sony will either hopefully return to E3 or have a separate showcase in June.

I think this showcase will be mostly focused on PSVR 2. I can't see major first party titles or say, an MGS full/timed console exclusive being shown on a State of Play as opposed to this coming June.

They are also publishing I believe a Final Fantasy game which will be exclusive if I remember correctly. Already with psvr 2 its alot going in

Final Fantasy 16 is coming this summer, Ff7 remake part 2 has a small chance of being out this winter. There's also the silent hill 2 remake.

Eh, I think it's a mixture of some teams (Naughty Dog, for example) not being ready and others that may have stuff they could show off but Sony has them scheduled to release later on, like in 2024. But you bring up a good point mentioning PSVR, Spiderman 2 & Stellar Blade though; as much as people try saying Sony doesn't have a lot for 2023 1P-wise, the truth is they do. It's just probably not going to be the amount of AAA releases they had last year (HFW, GT7, GOW Ragnarok).

Personally I hope all three return to E3. Or that they do their showcases in partnership with the E3 association.

Well if it's 3P-focused, there may still be some big 3P games revealed here (either multiplat, Sony comarketing, or 3P exclusives). Maybe 1 or 2 AAA (I'd imagine these being multiplat but one having comarketing with Sony), but 2 or 3 AA-style games. Some of these may also be PSVR2-compatible, I'd think.

I agree tho something like MGS Remake gets reserved for a bigger June Showcase (I hope Sony are actually doing one this year, unlike last year, or at least have a big SoP for it and games like it).

I think first half 2024

If Wolverine's a H1 2024 game, then Sony must have some really big gun ready for H2 2024 that hasn't been revealed yet.

Assuming that would be MGS Remake, I personally don't think MGS Remake would be a bigger H2 2024 game than Wolverine. But there might be a really good chance both of them release 2024.

You mean FFXVI because SE is publishing the game. Definitely a lot going on with PSVR 2. Not my thing but we'll see if they can get that Half Life game ported to it as that would be a huge addition.

Agree completely. 2022 was a stacked year for Sony. 2023 will be lighter but Spider Man 2 will be bigger than all three of those games individually. I'm hoping all three return to E3 too!!! We'll see what they do.

I agree with this as well. I think the SOP will mostly be PSVR 2 focused with 2 or 3 third party multi-player games. Probably RE4 for sure. SF 6 and FFXVI can be shown on their April SOP as im expecting two of them before the big event in June.

I doubt that game is ready yet, or that it would launch around the same time as Spider-Man 2.

I think first half 2024

2023 holiday surprise with Spiderman 2 dropping late summer. We know Sony can stack the big guns month on month.

I think the SOP will show us 2024 games on console and the VR games dropping this year.

Speaking of VR, are there any big VR games coming this year on any VR platform? What are the big VR titles of 2023?

I hope you aren't quoting that MS document to the FTC. MS don't know anything about the release date of these games. Unless MS has inside men at Sony, than that is all false.

Edit: Also I am pretty sure Sony wants these games to have breathing room.

I've not seen that document. This is my own guess

I also thought, maybe it's not that their first party isn't ready, it's more so that Sony has developed this odd fear of revealing games too early and won't acknowledge them until a few months before launch. (Which I disagree with)

i mean. If sony knows what a propel sony reveal should be, they need to show gameplay. clearly; is not really imperative. And is game by game basis.

right now. sony has too much shit ready to go:

PSVR2 launch = a bunch of games to market.
Forespoken
TLoU Remake = synergy with the show.

right there, you have essentially the first quarter.

Will this be new stuff like rumored first look at MGS remake/Silent hill? Or is this going to spend a good amount of time on FF16 and the likes? Feels like CAPCOM would be a good candidate for showing SF6, RE4 remake.
Could be.
Especially SH The Short Message getting Rated, the annoucement should be soon.

Also we still don't have the full list of launch games for PSVR2. So we should see it there.
