Far less people are emulating PlayStation so I can see why they don’t care as much as Nintendo does.

Nintendo declared total war on emulation and Switch 2 sales just went up. Wanna play Nintendo games? Sorry you will have to buy them.
It's a service issue. I want to be on a "PS4/5/6 Nomad", not a PC Alley. Just.. open the digital/BC floodgates, especially for previous games and movie purchases which are currently hostage'd away.

yeah, and people spent and entire generation pirating and spoiling the switch games days before its initial release, i remember needing to avoid social media for a week bc totk was being played by a lot of people on emulators

i imagine that they dont want this happening to the switch 2

Yuzu died 6 months ago, where are these Chinese and Russian emulators?
There was no need at the time since there was still Ryujinx now that both Switch emulators I have no doubt some Russian or Chinese group will come along to make another one

You can buy The Switch R4 which has more than 400 games like the N3DS had R4 card. It will be interesting to see what Nintendo does against this.

Emulators are completely legal and explicitly protected. These big companies are abusing questionable little loopholes in CR law to twist them to their bidding. Never forget that.

CR laws need to be totally rewritten from the ground up. In a much more limited scope and effect, as originally intended. Short term protection for selling full copies of a work. In years, not decades or centuries. With select criteria for qualification. Putting a stop to nonsense like using bits of code to basically extend protections over hardware, from a fundamental standpoint (like dictating what you can and cannot do with your hardware) and a practical one (like emulators).

Switch Emulation will be possible later down the road. Like how preservation is supposed to work.
But let's not pretend that was what was happening. These Emulators were clearly being used for piracy for day 1 releases.
I can't say I feel bad for folks stealing new games. If games are unobtainable by any other means then that is when preservation should be considered.
It literally comes down to either being 'ok' with stealing, or not. It is a moral question that one must answer, and if one lacks morals...

I don't know about Chinese or Russian, but a fork of Yuzu, Torzu, exists and is hosted on Tor so it can't be taken down easily.
There's also Suyu though I dunno how active development on that fork is. Works well enough though, its what I've been using for Switch emulation.

Or...

Emulator's developer are abusing questionable little loopholes to spread piracy and rom dump in their sites.

Why emulator's developer never create emulators that only play official media?

No, the courts have been pretty explicitly clear on this before. No loopholes or legal games. This here with the OP is all just the result of abuse of CR laws. They lay claim on things like firmware, DRM, hardware keys and other such things on YOUR hardware, to threaten CR lawfare. It's not even clear if such tactics would work.. But nobody dares be the person to test it out.

It's the same with copying media you own. So many people are completely unaware of their rights and where the law stands on these types of things. Did you know that it is not just perfectly legal to make as many copies of media as you want for personal use or backup, it's arguably a protected right? As long as you aren't selling them or abusing it.

In both cases they also use questionable criminal laws protecting DRM to de facto circumvent your rights. It's one of the (many) reasons the DMCA needs axed ASAP. As a first step in much needed CR reform.

Big media has gotten smarter and pushed everyone away from physical media and into gated media viewing environments. Environments with tech and legally questionable ToS's that can ban you for trying to take control of your copies of media. We seriously need some major legal pushback.

Some have. But in a lot of cases it's hard because the protections are built into the disk drive etc. (i.e. no way to validate that a media is 'legitimate') You can't recreate that kind of hardware protection. This also ignores the reason why a lot of people want to do so anyway. Exercising their right to backup their media. Disks get scratched and carts get old and broken etc.

Hell, most of the old (MY old) games i replay are on emulators. Hardware too gets old and breaks down. There are mods, performance and other reasons why someone would want to too.

Nintendo is scared. Their new console must be as off the shelves and anemic as possible. They know it will be emulated in 6 months.

If only they cared so much about offering a quality HW and online services.

Oh yeah? And who's gonna make the emulator? Still waiting for Chang and Dimitri to deliver.

I don't know but it will be made. It's what's been happening for the past 40 years.
Not anymore. If someone wants to try they're free to do it. Nintendo will send someone to their house really fast though. The only chance for Nintendo emulation to keep living is if some billionaire will sponsor an emulator and pay for the lawyers when Nintendo comes knocking. And I don't think it's gonna happen.

Nintendo or anyone has no right to enter your house, anyone doing it should be gunned down
