It’s complicated, if they had managed to get the deal through without any hiccups and quickly they could’ve used Xbox’s - and industry wise - momentum and made an exclusivity play. This the original plan. The roadblocks, concessions, industry reaction, made it so that by the time it was over Xbox was in a completely different place. The platform fell down a huge set of stairs and hit every step on the way down.
So there’s two ways to look at it honestly, buying AB saves and bolsters MS’s gaming division future, but it also made Xbox a roadblock that needed to be scaled down.
