Established in 2020 and led by myself and fellow Co-founders Nadjim Adjir and Michael McManus, Savage Game Studios was born of our many years of mobile game development experience spanning a number of massively successful global IP. Our guiding vision was a creative space where experimentation and taking risks weren’t warily avoided, but rather eagerly embraced. We’ve all worked at big studios and while we respect the advantages of ample resources, we wanted to stay small and nimble so we could call our own shots.

“So why then,” you may be thinking to yourself, “would you join PlayStation Studios?” We made this deal because we believe that PlayStation Studios’ leadership respects our vision for how we can best operate and succeed, and because they too are not afraid to take chances. All of that, plus the ability to potentially tap into PlayStation’s amazing catalog of IP and the fact that we will benefit from the kind of support that only they can provide… The harder question to answer would be “why not?”

Our mobile gaming efforts will be similarly additive, providing more ways for more people to engage with our content, and striving to reach new audiences unfamiliar with PlayStation and our games. Savage Game Studios is joining a newly created PlayStation Studios Mobile Division, which will operate independently from our console development and focus on innovative, on-the-go experiences based on new and existing PlayStation IP.

As expected this is the first mobile studio for PlayStation Studios.
Like I mentioned before, these are all the right steps for PlayStation to become a 3rd party publisher. Developing games for PC, Xbox, next-gen Switch and Mobile.
Jim Ryan will acquire a few more small no-name studios for a few dollars, while Microsoft are going to acquire their third publisher soon.
The PS5 will be Sony's last gen.

It's always weird when people shrug off statements like these as if they think Sony's incapable of doing both console and mobile games. Every other publisher in the industry has at least one mobile game. What, did you think Sony wouldn't join in just because it wasn't what you wanted?

I'm not sure what you think, but PS already have multiple mobile games. Even one of the biggest mobile games is from Sony music.

Didn’t expect the PS branded mobile push…

With Nintendo’s handhelds quickly falling behind competing mobile tech; we are ready for mobile to actually become a viable hardcore gaming option.

It’s a good move. They should get their feet wet with mobile.

I actually think Sackboy mobile looks good. Who ever they have for their games, i think this will be another good source of revenue for them depending on the title these guys make.

I mean this is announcement is “who cares” until they release some Pokémon GO level success.

Mobile market is the biggest moneymaker in the industry. We are seeing a bigger push into it from major game developers now.

It’s still far from maturing into a segment of gaming that isn’t mostly centered around gambling but Nitendo’s efforts, Fortnite, Warzone and like it or not Diablo Immortal has been hugely successful, etc…

In good time. Sony is very strategic, they can't just willy nilly throw money around. Also Square's sell off of their western studios finally closed. So more than likely thats coming soon.

I think we hear about it before November. December Activision deal closes supposedly. Right now I think they are concentrating on releasing their games in next couple months. But a announcement after Last of us part 1 releases would be my bet, unless they do a Playstation blog before hand.
