I am going with Deviation games first since Sony funded the studio. Ember Labs is probably going to be tested a second time since this was their first game. They probably want to make sure it wasn't a fluke and see if they improve on the next one since they already announced it will be built from the ground up for PS5 in an article.

Article in question: https://www.wired.com/story/playstation-5-six-months-later/

Square Enix I am really not sure about. They do other things than videogames and they already have a great relationship with Sony that, they probably don't need to be bought. IMO

That thinking is quite dangerous, that’s how Sony always missing great opportunities. Atlus amd FromSoftware Sony could have for low, but they ignored them.

Microsoft, Tencent etc. are not slowing down so of course we Playstation fans hoping, Sony would secure at least Square Enix as one of the big. Would be a disaster if someone like Tencent scoops them up.

My money is on repeat.gg, whatever that is.
Yeah I have seen it. In general I was referring about gaming companies who really developing games. The support studios like IronGalaxy for example or plattforms like EVO or this reapeat.gg are not interesting for the poll. That’s why I wanted to talk especially about game producing companies.

I really think its time for them to buy someone they have a long history with . Not another bungie. So for me Square enix makes all the sense. I would say Capcom as well but with Capcom i just get the feeling they dont want to make anything exclusive to Playstation. I find it hard to believe that Sony never approached Capcom to try get Resident evil or monster hunter as exclusives yet Capcom happily took the payment from Nintendo to make Ryse switch exclusive. And i keep hearing Capcom dont want to sell. So yeah for me Square Enix makes ten times more sense than any of the other guys on that list. They've had a longer history with Square than anyone else and not to mention the countless amount of exclusives Square made for Ps1, Ps2,PsP and now Ps5.

Besides street fighter 5, i cant think of an exclusive playstayion game from capcom in at least a decade. Capcom has a history of stabbing sony in the back like when they decided to take resident evil off the ps2 and make it gamecube exclusive. Also when they single handedly killed the vita in japan by making monster hunter 3ds exclusive.

while i agree with the vita losing monster hunter part , keep in mind they also gave resident evil 4 a ps2 port despite complaints from the director.
in short capcom will do whatever is in its own interest

Yeah cant forget about those two moments. Was really stupid of them to make resident evil a gamecube exclusive throughout that gen up until after re4 came out , but i am guessing that nintendo money must have been too good for them to pass up on them

Complete agree.

Definitely acquire Square Enix with the history they have with PlayStation.

You could say Squaresoft played a major role in making PlayStation what it is today. Their PS1 library alone is unmatched to this today. I don't think anyone has matched that output in a single generation. Crazy.

Yep, apart from the usual suspects (Ember Lab, Deviation, Square Enix etc.), I think Sony will buy a support studio or two (e.g., Iron Galaxy) and 2-3 VR studios (Camoflaj, First Contact, Polyarc, etc.).

That makes more sense and will yield more games.

People underestimate support studios because those acquisitions aren't as sexy but are so important.

PlayStation does not have an IP problem. They just need more talented devs to work on games. Studios like Valkryie and Iron Galaxy are great to help bigger studios like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica to ship games quickly.
Yep, support teams are more than welcome by the teams since often they handle boring tasks like porting or add extra manpower during certain periods where there is a shit ton of work and help to reduce crunch or delays. Quite often support teams are external outsourcing studios, but companies prefer to have them in-house because this secures availability and makes easier planning the cross-studio roadmap of projects.

It's also important tot hire VR devs with knowledge and experience in successful games. Not only to produce quality 1st party VR games themselves, but to share their knowledge and expertise with the other Sony teams and help them bring some IPs to VR, as happened with Firesprite and Guerrilla with Horizon Call of the Mountain.

Maybe some of these studios can help to bring Gran Turismo, God of War or Uncharted to VR or something like that, with whatever that fits. Butt well, what I want in VR are Motorstorm and Wipeout and they already have the perfect fit for that: Firesprite.

The thing is that support or VR teams may not be that sexy (same goes with eSports or mobile game developers, or whatever helps PS+), but are key parts for the big picture of keeping PlayStation growing everywhere, something that will end generating way more revenue and profit for SIE, which will result on more future traditional blockbusters for PS too, while keeping the brand also very well positioned in whatever ends being important in the future.

Square, Capcom, Ark Systems.........
