The weird part of this news to me is this.

"Microsoft $2.3 million to bring ARK 2 to the service when it launches."

And they pay this to be not just on gamepass but also exclusive.

They didn't expect to make more that $2.3 million if the game was not exclusive? The studio have so low expectations for the game on console.
Really makes me wonder how good the game will be.

The first one was a huge hit and made a lot of money, I'd say it made over a hundred million dollars. But mostly on PC, so maybe to be day one on GP and also to put the first one on PS+ would help them reach way more people on consoles specially thanks to the related marketing of these subscriptions.
