Just an accredited investor. I'm sure there are workarounds. Def jumping on an IPO, or shortly after.
Being privately owned is likely what allows Valve to be so competent.

3 tier system + this is very messy. Reminds me of Disney with its Hulu and ESPN packages.
What is someone going to do with PS+ Essentials on PC, get free online multiplayer and cloud saves? :ROFLMAO:

PSnow was the start of this but then they removed it from their TV’s and Samsung’s.

Sony always starts things extremely early, backs off, then another company does exactly what they did years later and gets all types of praises.

Part of it yes. Less chance for corporate sabotage as well. Still, it would be a no brainer for a quick buck. I think the roadmap is pretty clear now for Valve. Time will get everything in place. I have no faith in Nintendo.... they'll do whatever the fuck they do, they're that wild - always have been.

Where it’s at.
PlayStation Now was barebones to the point it got canned when they announced the new service. It was also PS3/PS4 only.
It wasn't "canned", it was rebranded and folded into Plus. It is all the same tech and the same servers being used, just not a standalone service anymore.

I think Nintendo has a huge upside, they are as successful as they are despite their awful dated hardware. Their business model is just damn good and of all the console manufactures they seem to be the ones that understand the market better.

If Nintendo had even a modestly modern/decent hardware they would get good ports of all games and their games wouldn't be so easily pirated/emulated. A two models console, including a more powerful non portable one would actually work for Nintendo (Series S doesn't make any sense because it isn't even portable).

Services is another front where they do well despite and awful product.

Information from the Insomniac leak, they will greatly expand the current service like Xbox does.

Nice to see it's close, it was announced as the PlayStation Now long term goals back in 2013/2014, when they announced their service. And was also mentioned as part of PS Now's improvements for this generation back in 2019.

Wait, is this the same PS Now thing that was available on PC but streaming only? Only this time it'll actually work well?

Will all these paths to paid subscriptions and new audiences, can we please get free multiplayer? It is completely insane and backwards that free to play games don't need PS+ and full priced multiplayer games do.

Gaikai, which PSNOW comes from was on mobile, browsers, and TVs for months before Sony bought them. They then shuttered all of those services and turned PSNOW into a PC/playstation only thing, when I for sure know it worked on much more.

I played crysis 2 in my browser when the service was still called gaikai

Are we still pretending any costumer actually cares about cloud gaming? $1 is all that separates them from playing on XCloud and yet nobody cares. Available in 28 countries including all of those that have big gaming markets.

The incredible brains behind this move...

Let people pay ten euro for a month and complete all the games they like so we can't sell consoles, full games, subscriptions for online or mtx anymore.

What a win...

Yet somehow 11 million sales of a game at 80 euro in three months is not sustainable???

Gimme a fucking break

It's crazy how this was the logical financial decision to execute putting their games on PC and get they fumbled so bad. Let's them rent your stuff
Yeah they should have made their own just look how successful epic is at it they’ve alrdy lost nearly one billion dollars on it. Sony would have to be willing to lose money for yrs on it. And a massive employee base to keep it running. Sony puts its money into its hardware supporting a money pit pc store with cut into anything console related from hardware to game’s development. This is why having strong reoccurring revenue is important. Without Fortnite epic game store wouldn’t exist.

It is actually good imo.

Let's sells a subscription service... these with a PS5 can play the all selected games local in native form and the selected games via streaming.
These with devices that are not PS5 will have only the gaming streaming option for selected games.
Both will pay the same but of course if you have a PS5 you have way more options.

They will basically allow the PS Now parts to be played anywhere.

That makes a lot of sense.

People will enter in the PlayStation ecosystem via the PS+ subscription and if they get the point to want to play the game locally with better quality (remember the options are different too) they will have to buy a PS5.
In simple terms you will need a PS5 to take full advantage of your subscription.

It already works well if not played a McDonalds wifi, but instead using a good enough connection and properly configured router. Games will be streamed on tvs and mobile only too obviously since they can't run PS4 and PS5 games natively.

Having the sub you'll be able to play in the consoles natively and via streaming also on PC, smartphones, tablets, tvs and PS Portal.

I assume they'll do it step by step, but the idea is to stream not only the games included in the sub, but also the ones you bought (at least some, future ones approved by their publishers).

Their idea is to get money both from the games (+ addons) sold mostly for their console and also to get money from the game sub.

Same as now, but in the future there will be also people paying for the sub and buying PS5 games even if they don't own the console hardware, mostly to play these things via cloud.

And if they want to play then natively, then they'll have to buy the console.

Not only does Sony needs to cater to PC players they specifically need to cater to Steam players? This is them digging their own grave and empowering the storefront that will eventually put them out of business.

There is only one constant in all this that cannot change. 1st party prestige games. But they nearly fucked this as seen by Naughty dog barely dodging the abyss.

The staff cutbacks in 1st party tho are concerning.

Watching keenly.
