They got so screwed over by that deal that I have no idea who they have employed in their legal department, looking over these contracts.

It's such an embarrassment to not include a clause about competitive subscription services. Amateur hour when they wrote those contracts.

Sony don't even publish it on the other platforms so they aren't getting the full slice of revenue there

If they got a bag like 200M a year then I think they are happy with it. Plus The Show doesn't drive hardware sale and MLB force them too.

Calling the Bases Loaded port an attempt at revival is asinine 😂
Port? They remade the games entirely, the fact that it ended up playing like an NES game was someone at MLB's idea of "simplifying" the gameplay and Atari were cheapskates more than willing to part ways with their IP but it was no mere port.

It turns a tidy profit and no other company is interested in making a direct competitor.

The money generated from MLB The Show goes towards other plans. No need to cut your nose to spite your face.

We will know that IF with new EA game.
For now there is only theories about that.
There really aren't, its part of the player/union contract negotiations and a big deal for public advertising. As a byproduct, for example, the MLBPA has permanently kept all scabs out of the game, even years after the strike ended. Most of them were no-hopers but one eventually ended up securing a spot on the Yankees roster as an outfielder and was always replaced with a generic guy in the games.
