Spider-man establishing a surveillance state is worse tho

:/
The fun thing is that some people thing that "community policing" will somehow not involve some sort of people who benefit from some exemption in regards to their use of force and are expected to bring people to justice.

Either way, vigilante justice and honor based "reparations" type justice is already worse than what we have now in the relatively limited scale we have seen it happen. So count me out, the social workers will not help you when someone tries to take your purse or just attach a kid on the street.

We need a hall of fame for this kind of shit.
You need to understand what private property really is.

It says it in the name: PUBLICKLY traded. It's not private like a mom and pop store or a family owned business is. Governments, unions and other interest groups own big chunks of these businesses and they behave nothing like a private entity would.

Elected civilian police review board with the authority to hire and fire. The idea that we have to choose between racist police patrolling neighborhoods with surplus gear from afghanistan/iraq or "vigiliante justice" is really toddler level thinking.

See the problem is that you start from a set of assumptions that just does not hold water. I mean, this is just too broad, obviously nobody wants racist police (assuming you talk about racism and not the mis-leading "systemic racism" thing).

That magic police force that would consist of civilians... they would be your police officers, and that would not fix the underlying cause of violence and murders, in fact letting violent perpetrators back on the streets impoverish neighborhood, when it doesn't completely decimate them. Now, if the review board can override the election what do we end up with?

Do we want less people killed by police? sure, do we want accountability when this is done un circumstances that should not have been? sure.

Obviously the real world is worst than your fantasy land, the problem is that so far every single time we let people like you near making decisions in the justice system we end up with shitty places like New-York, Chicago, Portland and San-Francisco.

What will they attach the kid to?
