Square Enix has no clue as to what they're doing.
1. The exclusivity that Square Enix has done doesn't work for shit and that's a fact and here's why - these deals they signed were a decade ago and simply don't align with their costs and whatnot in 2024. In other words, what was perhaps a great deal in 2015 looks like fucking shit in 2024. Granted, works out great for Sony though.
2. They should be remastering their older games at a larger scale in that 2D-HD format but lower the retail price to $40 and make them digital only. Cuts down the costs and if anything, will get more sales due to the cheaper price point. Also, these games being $60 when Rebirth is $70 just isn't going to compute for most people.
3. Start remaking their older games into what Rebirth is but in one fucking game, not three. This in addition to #2 would be great.
4. This is connected to #1, release your fucking games EVERYWHERE. It's not about the platform which ONLY benefits the hardware manufacturer, it's about the fucking IP and growing it. You can't do that by handicapping it's potential growth by it being only on one platform on launch day when the hype and interest is at it's highest. Even worse, is then releasing it on those other platforms months/years later expecting people to pay full price for your years old washed up shit. That's just not going to happen, especially on PC.
5. While this was more apparent in Fall 2022, stop releasing your games close to one another especially if it's the same genre and even worse, the same franchise. Rebirth is an excellent game but releasing it eight months after FF XVI (excluding their first expansion) is simply asking for low sales because people do get fatigued with a franchise/IP being oversaturated in a short period of time. People have to miss your shit in order to want it and buy it. If they don't miss it, they sure as hell aren't buying it. And this is more for Visions of Mana, stop releasing your game(s) on the same fucking day as a massive IP, such as Star Wars. Gee, I wonder what will happen here. SMH.
