Not a mod, but founder/whatever we're all noobs with all this moderation and running a forum.
This is a small forum still, will it ever grow bigger ...who knows, our intention is to make good place for a lot of people for honest game discussion.
We tried to improve the quality of the discussion(with a set of some rules and examples) and remove some of the points(that drag the discussion straight down to the sewer), that annoy people who actually want that game discussion.

Instead of sending a PM to the mods, or making a thread to actually want to discuss the rules.
The immediate action is ---> fuck that site, bunch of DICK TATORS --> lets make a FU post on the forum.

We have no plan to be dictators, if we would be, we could just ban any account we seem are harmful for the discussion, without any explanation or any set of rules.

You're ignoring the fact they ban for other reasons aside from console warring. They say no politics but what they mean is no politics they don't agree with. Most of Gaf ban reasons stated on the ban is normally them being vague or adding in some smug warning while hiding behind their anonymity because you can't even see the mod who banned. Theres been bans that are justified but at the same time it feels like the same users getting away with saying the same toxic,sometimes even bordering on racist things. Anyway probably a waste of time explaining to you since from your short list of activities here,I already know what you're here for.

What the moderation here wants to do here is good but the implementation at the moment is still not as good as it could be. There is a lot more transparency here than in Gaf. Its still early days like you said but it could work out. Gaf entire warning system was so obtuse and there was never really much room for debate with them.

I'm going to say no, I think we are hitting the upper limit for members tbh. I don't think younger people want to use forums. Discord, twitter, and other new platforms are becoming way more popular.

Just one example is the fighting game community, they have entirely moved away from forums. If you can show me a highly active forum thread on any single fighting game, I'd be surprised. But the community is thriving now more than ever, so people just don't want to talk about fighting games or what? No they moved to other platforms.

Funny thing is forum activity is largely "not anything meaty", it is shitposts and snipes and generally very brief content, the outliers are the ones who put a ton of time into effort posting. They are not keeping forums alive. Hate it or not people are moving to discord and twitter like platforms, and private communities.

Blame the Gaf moderation then. Only been using Gaf for a year and I can tell you most people wouldn't put up with half that BS. The people in favour of that just seem to be the same forty-fifty 30+ year olds who all have the same opinions and somehow become less self aware by the day.

You can't just have bullshit spewing 24/7, why do you think the same people that get banned from GAF and Reset also are getting banned here. It's not productive. It's toxic and bad for gaming as a whole. You want to talk to people like that, go to Twitter.

How do you have a productive conversation while being toxic and rude? A lot of the new generation lacks respect for others, and are the FIRST ONES to cry and complain when they get their feelings hurt, or worse get their ass kicked. It really is unbelievable, but hey, keep getting banned.

I feel like the forum should find a middle ground between allowing console warring while not allowing people to antagonize others. Maybe it's too difficult, idk. But outright banning console warring makes this GAF 2.0, which warrants the question regarding the unique selling point of this forum.

I'd love a specific definition of 'console warring'. If you dislike a policy a particular company has and can support your claim with actual evidence I don't see a problem with that. I also have no problem with point for point comparisons.

I do tend to be confused why a person would jump into a thread about a game/platform they don't own to hurl childish rants and complaints though. I also strongly believe personal attacks should never be part of the discourse.

I have to agree. No need to be a jerk to people just because they own consoles you don't. The entire idea is ridiculous. People won't have hurt feelings if they are respectful and you really shouldn't catch any feelings over a game console in the first place.

It's not difficult to be respectful to each other no matter what their position is on a gaming forum. There is no reason to defend the indefensible and has nothing to do with crying.

I agree! Sometimes it's pretty fun though. My method for dealing with the people who can't stop being pricks is to engage only with people worth engaging with and/or using the ignore features.
