If the “DS” is added to the name people will think of two screens. If the Switch 2 is one screen which I think it is then DS makes no sense.

I was pretty excited for the Switch 2, but I passed on the DS for a reason... It's a really dumb concept. 99% of the time I'd be playing docked, so wouldn't really matter, but I don't see the value in paying for a second screen.

If this is true, I think this will be a massive mistake for Nintendo if Sony puts out a similarly priced handheld with one screen.

The DS outsold the PSP, but with unified libraries, the advantage goes completely to the PSP.

Although I loved the PSP, I hated the analog nub and having a single analog control rather than dual. The lack of two shoulder buttons also held the system back.

Modern handheld design favors Sony in a way it didn't in the past.

Nintendo is very good at messing up a succesful generation. But I dont think they will be this dumb.
All nintendo needs to do is add a 2 after Switch. Not DS, 4K, or U lol. Say it with me Nintendo…. Switch 2…

The New Super Switch U XL has a better ring to it if you ask me.

On the games side we know the current Pokemon games in development are cross-gen from the leaks. Confirmation from the CEO basically warrants Metroid 4 as cross-gen so no surprises there. MK9 launch title makes sense it's their best seller and has been what 10 years? + end the year with a mainline 3D Mario for the holiday.

Question is rather will they keep the Mario titles exclusive to migrate the installbase or keep them cross-gen for more sales.
I am curious if they going to rerelease BotW/ToTK (Zelda team is out for a bit) enhanced versions for full price instead of updating them for free through BC.

May makes sense you don't want to go into holiday season with GTA6 bundles.

I think the last time you could say that would be the N64 to Gamecube, but even there they moved to optical discs.

Gamecube to Wii was motion control. Wii U was the tablet. DS to 3DS was the 3D effect. 3DS to Switch was the dockable console hybrid.

I think anything other than Switch 2 is a complete disaster, but if this thing really does have dual screens... wild...

Even further back NES - SNES. Although you can make a case for New 3DS and that was more of an iteration and that brings back to wha the CEO said it will be more iterations/evolutions from now on since the Switch is the culmination of the entire N DNA.
