Team Asobi win Golden Joystick Studio of the Year, while Wukong wins GOTY

To me, this is the real game awards. But it should be held in January to get all the 12 calendar months in.
Sony won:
Nintendo got nothing and MS, after spending almost $100B on acquisitions only got:
- Studio of the year (Team Asobi)
- Console game of the year (Helldivers 2)
- Best multiplayer game (Helldivers 2)
- Best audio design (Astro Bot)
- Best game trailer (Helldivers 2 launch trailer)
- Critic's choice award (Helldivers 2)
- If the end acquiring Kadokawa, also got Best game expansion (Elden Ring)

Wukong votes got botted. No way that shit deserved it over rebirth or astro bot.
This is bullshit. So it's okay for Yanks to diddle voting but when China does it, it's wrong.
In a few weeks you'll see a non standalone dlc win game of the year which is way worse to the general public.
It's just massively popular amongst the brainrot crowd lmao. It's not a terrible game.... but I think GOTY is a massive stretch for it. I'd say Lies of P is a much better souls game. Hell I would say even Dark Souls 2 is the better souls game.
Same if there was a blockbuster game based on Indian myth and made in India that the country got behind. I didn't make a judgement as to whether it was okay or wrong, but the fact is those two countries' populations will skew voting results.
Basically the same will happen with TGA (even so TGA has bigger issues this year).
After all the same people that made it record sales in Steam will push for the awards.
Expect to all public voted awards to go to Wukong.
No matter what people thinks... a population of over 1 billion does screw pool results.

Popular vote only accounts for 10% of the weight for TGA awards.
While that does give it an advantage, it would also need to win a good percentage of the voting jury.
Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were referring to all awards where there was a component of public voting.
Weird middle ground to strike. What does studio of the year even imply? That they made the best game or…?
I was wondering this too. How are these two separate? It's not like Asobi made several games this year.
