GTA VI there, no contest. But I'm hyped for Ghost of Yotei.
In my opinion, good nominations and my fear that Stellar Blade would not be nominated have not come true. You can certainly argue about Elden Ring, but I don't think it will win, the competition is too good for that. I wasn't expecting Wukong, but since the jury is spread all over the world, and some are from China and Japan, it's not that big a surprise. It was probably the votes from China and Japan that pushed Stellar Blade up and helped it to be nominated.
In any case, the nominations are better this year and the winner is not yet clear in many categories. Apart from the Elden Ring DLC, I've played everything and none was so outstanding that it would be a clear favorite for me. But the fact is that studios from South Korea and China are to be expected and more and more studios are catching up with the western and Japanese markets in terms of quality.
And of course Sony was one of the first to recognize the potential there, invested early and so all of the nominated games of the year can only be played on the PS5.

Implying 2024 was a major down year and hence why the nominees are what we got just oozes him being salty because the year for a certain platform holder he shills for didn’t panned out like he predicted.

I understand that there is institutional bias against American football due to all of the foreign outlets voting but I was really hoping for NCAA to get a best sports title nod. Its so rare that a big new series like this gets launched and its had a great effect on the industry.*
I am guessing Balatro wins best game and Astrobot best game direction. Would be the second indie game and first mobile as lead platform game to win.

Metaphor was a great game. Said by critics and gamers. FF7R is never winning game of the year. It's a remake. Nomination is the best it's going to get.Balatro the token indie. Elden Ring DLCMetaphor

I voted for Metaphor but this is not true. FF7 Rebirth (and by extension FF7 Remake) are sequels to FF7, not remakes
Yes I realize calling FF7 Remake a sequel is bizarre but it's a sequel in the same way the Evangelion Rebuild films are sequels to the original Evangelion and End of Eva. More specifically

Unfortunately, this might be the case especially with how much the media hates on the Square and Sony exclusivity deal even though FF7 rebirth has outsold Metaphor as of this year.
I agree with you that Metaphor is indeed amazing. But if you didn't already know, the new FF7 games are not remakes, they are actual sequels to the PS1 game.
