Here's praying for another Sony PC port flop so Jim Ryan can stop these shenanigans.
I know a lot of people like to pin this on Jim but this was the plan when Layden was head of SIE.

the strategy as were developing it [...] was that we need to go out to where these new customers are, where these new fans could be. We need to go to where they are [...] because they've decided not to come to my house, so I've got to go to their house now.

It's almost beating Days Gone already. We'll see if it goes as high as GOW (73k). It might because of the show.

This weekend will be the peak I think.

Shawn Layden was never the CEO of SIE.

Shawn Layden ran WWS from 2016 until he was fired / quit in 2019. He had also been head of SCEA, the American division of PlayStation, from 2014, but he still reported to the CEO. Layden was removed from this role in 2018.

The heads of PlayStation have been Ozawa (93-95), Tokonaka (95-99), Ken K (99-06), Kaz (06-11), House (11-17), Kodera (2018), and Ryan (2019-).

Much obliged.

So mid PS4 gen, Kodera fell off and it's been a slow slide since.

I still think a retooled Vita at the time with all the necessary buttons etc gives PS4/VITA remote play of PS4 library, and a second sequel model now (PS4 Portable, ideally) for the PS5 era, would be a vastly better direction than PC overall.

it's a disaster

Last of Us Part 1 user reviews call it the “single worst PC port”

The Last of Us Part 1’s PC port has already received a storm of negative Steam reviews, thanks in no small part to crashing problems. The Last of Us Part 1 marks the latest first-party Sony game to make the jump to Steam and the Epic Games Store. Excitement for this particular release especially hit a fever pitch after HBO’s acclaimed adaptation. However, many players had doubts given the pedigree of the port house behind the PC version – Iron Galaxy. After all, few have forgotten the disastrous launch of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC in 2015. Others were willing to reserve judgment for launch day, however. And now that such a day has arrived, the user reviews are in – they’re not exactly glowing, either. Last of Us Part 1’s PC port receives “mostly negative” reviews As of writing, TLoU Part 1’s user scores on Steam read as “mostly negative,” with only 35 percent of roughly 2,300 reviews being labeled as “positive.” Most of the “Not Recommended” reviews call out the game’s crashing issues. One person who played for two hours dubbed it a “Crashing Simulator,” claiming to have encountered 12 crashes and over half a dozen freezing errors. Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest updates on Esports, Gaming and more. Email “Another shoddy port by Iron Galaxy,” someone else wrote before identifying problems such as stuttery mouse camera movements, HW utilization, and general optimization. Apparently, the most stuttering is the same hiccup that plagued the Uncharted Collection’s PC port at launch. last of us pc reviewsSony Others were less verbose in their assessment, but still got the point across. “Wow, this runs like crap,” read the text of another “Not Recommended” review. “The single worst PC port I have ever seen,” lamented a player who said they’ve waited 10 years to play The Last of Us. Suffice it to say, the Steam reviews aren’t painting the prettiest picture of what users can expect from The Last of Us’ long-awaited PC build.

Another shit port, bad press, memes and tarnishing Playstation studios for a couple of cents.

From high-profile franchise that sold 40 millions with the biggest TV show in years to laughingstock in 1 day.

The game was still topping PSN charts. It's a system seller and they gave it away for a buggy mess.

I just feel bad at the people who bought 3080s with 10gb vram that have worse performance than 3060s with 12gb

Sony & ND, synonymous of B grade gaming

Jokes aside, how will future games be made? Take advantage of ps5 or designed with cross platform limitations to prevent this exact thing from happening?

Will probably be studio dependent, and also console split dependent.

Not only they released a horrible port, but they actually did it a week after Resident Evil 4 Remake... that is some high IQ business move.

Another terrible decision from Sony, there was no reason to release it in a bad state, days after RE4, with no marketing and it's yet another Sony single player game cracked day one.

Their entire PC strategy has been a complete disaster and all they managed to do was to devalue their games and their console.

I'm not against PC ports but the random way they are handling them makes no sense. There's also no way to undo the damage as people will now expect PC ports of their games.
