How long before someone accuses the Russo Bros of doing this because Sony and Marvel have worked together in the past?

I agree with this completely. Absolutely hated the story, characters, writing, pacing, script, false ending and the actual ending. OMG!!! Can't wait to replay Part I in September so I can finally wash the horrible taste that was TLOUP2 out of my mouth.

Reinstalled it a few months ago. Still can’t bring myself to finish it. I don’t mind playing as Ellie, but I was more invested in Joel and was a more personal story for me.

Gameplay and Graphics were top notch, while the Story was not.
the story is gotg. Just need to be less stubborn and let it take you through the wringer.
Just because it’s not what fanboys wanted, does not mean it’s bad. It’s a cruel world and they decided not to make a game about super heroes on another adventure

part 2 exposed gamers to true loss, nothing was sacred and no one was safe. It was bleak and unforgiving like nothing else

I really hope Ragnarok can subvert expectations in a similar way. I want to cry and feel broken by teh end
It won’t. No Sony game will do anything like that again because then people bitch about it online because they don’t get it.
Be prepared for more lame go lucky fanboy adventures with no narrative risks.

Yep.

Gamers: "We are bored. AAA games are so safe. Publishers don't take enough risks."

Naughty Dog makes a risky AAA high-budget TLOU 2.

Gamers: "This is so polarizing. It's not the lovey-dovey story I wanted. Why did you do Joel like that! Blah blah. Cater only to my needs. Give me the game that I thought in my head. uwaaannnn uwaaaannnn."

The Last of Us Part II didn’t ”subvert expectations” lol

The Fireflies wanting revenge and hunting down Joel was exactly what I and many others expected.

Many of us figured Joel was dead and Ellie was going to avenge him once we saw the 2016 PSX reveal.

I think what you want from Ragnarök would be better described as just an emotional, maybe bold or risky story.

That doesn’t necessarily require this “subvert expectations” buzzword people overuse nowadays.

I agree. They didn't really "subvert expectations". They just (thankfully!) took away the protagonist's plot armor.

Joel is by far my most favorite, my number one video game character. I still think whatever happened (although was painful for me) made sense and stayed true to the nature of the TLOU world.

That creative integrity and respect for the game world and story should take precedence over protecting any character or anyone's feelings. That's the only way of creating good, memorable art.
