So I was replaying God of War 2018 yesterday and getting hype for God of War Ragnarök and thought how Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries VR update, and PSP and PS1 games finally coming to PS4/PS5 have been my highlights in 2022 and hopefully God of War Ragnarök and Crisis Core FF7 both put 2022 up there as one of the best years ever after so many big games getting delayed to next year! That also got me thinking earlier today how PSVR 2 is just about all but officially confirmed by Sony for early 2023.
PSVR 1's release date was announced in March of 2016: https://www.polygon.com/2016/3/15/11240842/playstation-vr-launch-date-price-ps4
now it's mid July 2022 and there is practically no way PSVR 2 makes it into 2022!
So if I could have one last gaming related thing happen in 2022 it would be PSVR 2 launching this November with Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Resident Evil 8: Village VR mode, No Mans Sky, and the next Team Asobi Game (Most likely another Playroom tech demo like game that launched with PSVR 1.)
If God of War is another masterpiece and PSVR launches this year with some awesome stuff that would make 2022 one of the best years for me to get ready for RE4 Remake next year and whatever else PSVR 2 gets! I wished we got another RE4 vs God of War for GOTY awards like in 2005 and have Elden Ring be this years Shadow of the Coleuses.
Other close ones I had would of been a new Resident Evil: Revelations game (I know were getting RE:Verse but I don't know how I feel about that.) for the 10 year anniversary of the first one since RE4 Remake is missing the original Resident Evil remake 20th anniversary!
Goldeneye getting a rerelease on it's 25th anniversary August 25th, 2022 would of been awesome as well since Street Fighter, and Final Fantasy, Mega Man, and Metal Gear have nothing coming out for it's 35th anniversaries but this one might still happen.
Also if a brand new Need For Speed Game isn't happening this year that would of been a good one. (I know it would of been cross gen but I still would of loved to see how a Need For Speed game would of looked like on PS5.) but I'm seeing reports that EA plans on revealing on for this year later this month so idk.
Also Since there is a possibility of a Metroid Prime remake/remaster this November for the 20th anniversary I would love to see a remake or remaster of Splinter Cell which launched on the same day back in 2002. I think the PS3 was the last modern hardware besides PC to get the game? It would be nice to have it on more modern hardware (PS4/PS5)!
