When did you start playing on PlayStation?

i remember the first time i saw a ps1. my uncle was playing nba live 97 and i remember the polygon models blowing my mind rodman with green hair. my other uncle told me if i liked any of his consoles. he had them all at the time and he would get it for me. i dont remember the year. but one day i opened a box and cried. got with nascar jet moto and crash bandicoot. but my guess around 97 lol i was too young. good times

I would say around 1995-1996 from what I do remember... But man it's been almost 30 years so for a long time!

March 1999 I got the PS1 for my birthday, but technically in 1998 because I rented it for a couple of weekends to try it.. Played it a lot until 2004 then I stopped once I got to college.

A friend brought one back from America before it had launched. When he showed me and my brother 3d in the form of tomb raider and crash bandicoot, we couldn't believe our eyes.

No revolution since has been as amazing.

Seems like everyone here is older. I started playing on playstation with the ps1 though technically it wasn't during the ps1 gen it was in 2010, on my cousin's ps1. I remember playing tekken 3 on it a lot. Ps2 was the first ps console I had in 2012. I remember playing Tekken 4,5 tekken tag, Need for speed most wanted, God of War 1, 2, Gta Vice city, San Andreas, Liberty city , Fifa 13 on it.

I would say a mix between college, work and varying interests/hobbies back then. I got more into music/concerts/record collecting and stopped gaming most of the time. I had a family PC that was pretty well spec for its time, between a PS2 and a PS3. Played a few games on it (GTA SA, NFSU 2, Quake 4, Far Cry, Top Spin) but I used it the most to listen to music with Winamp... waste of hardware basically.

Remember my dad telling me straight up: "Dont you want a PS2?" I refused for some reason. I was still familiar and played some of the biggest games at my friends or relatives houses as everyone had a PS2.

Basically I stopped gaming from 2006 though 2012 when i got back in the hobby buying a cheap ps2 and a Wii. Played some of their biggest hits and then was looking to get an HD console, but as the 7th generation was ending decided to build a gaming PC once the PS4 and Xbox one specs were revealed. So I jumped from PS2 level HW to slightly over PS4.

PS2. Acquired a bundle from GameStop and it came with two games. The games were SSX and Madden 2001.

PS1 era.. and really became my console once RPGs really started getting going. (after getting rid of the idiot in charge of the western branch) It was only second to the PS2 era, since PS2 also technically included PS1.

Then came the late PS4 and then PS5 eras.. the dark times. Was hopping it would be just another sony schizo episode.. but it's turned out to be something far worse and ongoing.

I got the PS2 that generation but I also had Gamecube and XBOX and PS2 got the least love, tbh... it was PS3 when Killzone 2 came out that I started to prefer them to the competition. PS1 I never owned and preferred N64 and PC gaming. I currently have a PC with a 4070 and a PS5 Pro, I prefer the Pro because I don't like all the tinkering/troubleshooting with PC gaming.
