When Xbox consoles stop being made, how high will PlayStation sales go?

Well them eventually supporting their rivals is inevitable. It started from last decade and will escalate by the end of this year if sales continue to flounder. I still don't see them completely abandoning Hardware
Yes but how are you defining hardware here? I do not think, if they continue to produce hardware, it will at all resemble the traditional console experience of Xbox. I think we are more likely to see a mini-device either like a NUC PC or Stadia that utilises streaming of GP without a disc drive. Xbox can keep selling controllers, GP, games via digital storefront and gives an accessible piece of hardware that functions like the Series S in current market (low cost, "second TV" device for bedroom, kids, etc).

Where it’s at.

Microsoft has no idea how to make gaming hardware profitably. When Xbox dies, it will die completely, as the brand has no value outside the delusional fanboys.

Only Microsoft Gaming Studios will remain.

I don't disagree with their failure, but I think the barrier to profitability differs if they are no longer taking a loss on hardware sales and have a large enough content catalogue for consumers. Not that I think GP is sustainable, it's a ponzi, but I can imagine a world wherein they transition to a device like I said before and find some small success coupled with status as a 3rd party publisher.

Well I am not expecting them to do another traditional console if they should have the white flag but I don't see them at least having some form of digital only / cloud box that can scale.

That has got to be the dumbest, wrongest and most absurd take I have EVER seen.

Xbox has flopped harder than any console has ever been allowed to do without being discontinued and driving its manufacturer out of consoles, and that hasn’t harmed Sony and Nintendo one tiny little iota.

I know you’re a PC fanboy, but goddamn, you have no grasp on reality if you believe a word of the drivel you typed there.
How did that Acti purchase turn out? It will never happen, you said repeatedly...

When it comes to judging who has no idea what they're talking about, you have previous.

And I'm not a PC fanboy, more of a disgruntled console gamer that refuses to buy a current gen console because Microsoft and Sony have no games.
Are you trying out ChatGPT for the first time?

Sick burn, brah.

Some people should just read the threads, never reply and save us from having to read such a shitty takes like this one.
You're one of them. The majority of your posts are delusional fanboy drivel.

Funny though, as this thread is about opinions. I must have struck a nerve to receive the replies I've had.

Remind me, where did the Wii gamers go when that gen ended? They must have bought xbones and ps4s, right? They couldn't possibly have fled to mobile gaming, which took market share from console gaming...

Nahh...couldn't be.

Everything was in order for that merge to be blocked if CMA wasn't flip flop idiots in the end. What happened in the end, i dunno. Even judge at final court was flabbergasted by all of a sudden CMA helping MS.

At the end of the day, sony really needs to stop releasing games on PC. Its something that is killing the series consoles and if they keep this shit up it will only hurt the brand, sony doesnt need this shit, and their consoles will sell better if they just came out and said "our games will no longer come to PC".

Sony also needs to wait a lot longer to include their game on PS+, Horizon FW made it there way too fast.

Only GaaS game should make their way to PC and Nixxes should be put in charge of patching PS4 games and porting PS3 games to PS5.

Couldnt agree more with nixxes porting ps3 games to ps5. It is a travesti that we dont have propper ps3 emulation on the ps5. I think I heard somewhere that something was being done about it but its hard because each game used the cell processor differently, so there isn't a "one size fits all" solution.

But still if sony just made it so was possible to put my ps3 games in the console and play them, you'd see a huge boost in sales.

With Xbox in terminal decline, despite massive investment and acquisitions, it seems that Xbox hardware is inevitably going to end in the near future.

What does this mean for PlayStation in terms of direction and sales potential?

What numbers could we see and is it positive?
It’s will be a perfect storm when gta6 drops. Pc, switch gamers can’t play it on there platform and Xbox gamers bailing from their own ain’t going to switch and can’t go to pc if they want gta6 day 1. Also hardcore ps gamers in the process of upgrading to the pro from base ps5 also ps4 gamers who have yet to upgrade skipping base ps5 and going straight to the pro. Ps5 m+ ps5pro has the potential to be the ps2. Also ps is alrdy moving more software than any console in gaming history and the death of Xbox and ps core teams ready to drop their big triple A bangers ps will be moving an insane amount of software.

Well, Xbox One did around like 40 to 60 million consoles, right? That’s a lot of people who wanted a high tech, stationary console, so going to Nintendo isn’t likely.

Theoretically, if the Xbox brand is indeed going to break down like that, that’s likely all Sony’s base now.
