Are you saying "no one buys a console for exclusives, they buy it for fortnite, madden, fifa, overwatch and COD"?

I have honestly never heard anyone with this take before! What a novel idea!
The casuals dont not care what they are playing on lol
They will just buy whatever is cheaper, especially since we have cross play now.
Nintendo with a proper Fifa and call of duty release will be very interesting. It might hurt Sony even harder than before.

The gap between "weak" and "powerful" platforms is only getting smaller. That is why so many Fifa/CoD players are still on PS4.

Don't know how it is in NA but here in Europe, Playstation to most people is the "default" console to own. It's the Coca Cola of gaming.

As for me. I'm not interested in Nintendo or PC gaming. Xbox is so irrelevant, it isn't even in contention

So yeah.
PS5 is ahead of PS4 in the US, and PS4 had true exclusive games, so it is doing very well

Yeah.

Valve tried to release a console and failed. The Steam Deck for all the hype it gets among hardcore gaming forums hasn't even sold past 5 million units.
Steam fans are just the loudest. 60% of steam users are still playing games in 1080p, less than 20% 1440p. The utopia platform they scream about only includes maybe 1/5 of their total active user base.

I own most of these games and tbh i'll pass on Sony pushing this type of content, ill let Nintendo handle that.

hardcore cope. Valve will release a console that can play all steam games with free online multiplayer and It will be over for Sony.

While I agree they will be do this and it will be succesful for Valve. It wouldnt be over for Sony, Playstation has a huge mindshare amongst commercial fans and have a hardcore base larger than anyone including Nintendo.

But it will be bad news for them and they will have to up there game and stop there silly PC ports if they want to survive longer. They will adapt

i'm saying casual players buy consoles to play these games, the hardcore community are the 10 - 20M ones who buy God Of War, The Last Of Us, Horizon, Spiderman and etc, but there are 100M+ that don't care and want to play casual games like GTA and FIFA

Yeah.

Valve tried to release a console and failed. The Steam Deck for all the hype it gets among hardcore gaming forums hasn't even sold past 5 million units.

Steam’s popularity is increasing and it wouldnt be the same as a Steamdeck or there previous attempts. Plus they would probably most swallow the Xbox fanbase.

The thing is, it will probably end up being like the Steamdeck as in, a bunch of 3rd party will also make there own Steamconsoles like they do Steamdecks that will play SteamOS. So yes SteamDeck has only sold 5 million, a bunch of 3rd party’s started making there own portable pc’s that end up playing Steam anyway and thats where they sell there games.

Then Steam doesnt have to worry about how many consoles they sell or generations, they will just slowly slowly have companies like Asus and Alienware make SteamConsoles and slowly make money and build there userbase between PC, Portable and HomeConsole.

This way its not a huge investment and there is no loss for them, just growth.

I dont think it will kill Playstation. It will stop the PC ports though and Sony will adapt and improve like they did during the PS3 generation when they were caught unprepared

I guess you can’t pick up on sarcasm. This fallacious argument has been around for a very very long time and was often brought up by Xbots to justify fanboying for a console that didn’t have much in the way of system selling exclusives, that being the Xbox One.

That argument would usually be used inside a thread of larger importance though, I never witnessed a Xbot who really thought this earth shattering viewpoint (again, that's sarcasm!) was worth making an entire thread out of.

But here we are.

Valve doesn't have the logistic game to even compete with Xbox units wise. Even if their device was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Yes, the hardcore fanboys who cry because a few games are also playable in other places, some of them years later are a tiny portion of the userbase. And their exclusives, including those whose IPs also appeared in PC sell better than ever.

In fact the active userbase of their consoles grew since they started the current PC push initiated in 2019.

Sony will fail without exclusives
Nothing leads to think Sony will stop getting exclusives. In fact every year their number of PS exclusives is higher than the number of their PC ports released that year.

So over time every year their number of exclusives increases. And well, there's also other multiplatform console only games that aren't available on PC.

hardcore cope. Valve will release a console that can play all steam games with free online multiplayer and It will be over for Sony.
Steam Machines and Steamdeck failed at achieving this.

they just are just assuming that Sony will lose 80 million customers because sony made a lego game on switch.

The casuals dont not care what they are playing on lol

Then why aren't they buying a Series S instead of a PS5? It's cheaper and has Gamepass.

I mean the brand in general, not the individual consoles.

Here in Europe, Playstation is the defacto console brand for example. People buy it because it's Playstation.

Is it the same in the states?
