That's my biggest worry. Nothing pissed me more than seeing Spiderman being announced for PC on a State of Play for Playstation gamers.

I wonder how many others felt the same.
I mean... it's years old at this point. 🤷‍♂️

Doesn't bother me all that much. Weird place to show it off I suppose, but given all the other cool stuff in there it was no big.

While true it's to a much lesser degree. The point is they're actively losing money because they can't get units out the door. They're well aware of this which is why they have accelerated their PC plans.
Yes, they clearly want those 500k copies with 30% off the top sold right now. That'll help them make up for that for sure.

That's literally selling millions, thanks for the math lesson...
Days Gone and God of War arent in the millions. Only hzd is. Those numbers are still millions less than what they did on Playstation

The issue wasn't its coming to PC but what was it doing on the show for Playstation gamers.

And the excuse is these are OLD games.

Why does the age of the game bother PC gamers if they never played the game?

Reality is more people downloaded these games on torrents and played for free.
Yes God of war was downloaded 2.1million times for free.

Oh yeah, that's been a big problem. A lot of guys will openly brag about pirating PS games and even post links for others to do so.

Millions over three titles, all of which are selling 10% or less than their console counterparts, with them losing 30% off each of these sales. Yeah, that's definitely awe-inspiring.

Methinks based on your posts that you may be reading some of these graphs wrong.

I don't think so, right now even if they decide to go day and date with pc release.along the ps5 versions, the demand for gaming hardware is just too high right now. I think people get too caught up on how we all thought the cosole business was done a decade ago when the wii u and vita flopped but nowadays even if there were no actual ps5 exclusives most casual gamers would rather pick up dedicated gaming hardware like the ps5 or Xbox series consoles then go and spend $1000 and a relatively good pc gaming rig. There are 8 billion people in the qould all sony has to do is convince 150 million of them to pick up a Playstation every 7 or so years

Regarding them making PC high end gaming accesories like monitors and headsets I think it makes sense because they make games and make hardware, and now are betting hard on eSports beyond EVO. And well, they make PC ports too. So it's a good opportunity for them. In fact if I was them I'd also make PS5+PC pro controllers and pro arcade sticks.

I don't think this things would negatively affect PS5. In fact becoming bigger in PC and eSports will help them grow their userbase so may get extra console sales (even if most PC players won't buy it, maybe because not available or too expensive in their country, and this is why they play on PC). With PC the important is to don't release their games too close to the original PS version (this doesn't apply for remasters/remakes, I mean TLOU1 remake may release half a year or a year later in PC but I count since the original release 10 years ago).

Agree with most except the bolded part.

There's no extra hardware sales coming. Why will a PC gamer buy a console when most can wait and download the game on PC for free if they want.

After playing GoW 2018 may want to play Ragnarok without having to wait 2-4 years for the PC port. After playing Spider-Man and/or Morales may want to play Spider-Man 2 without having to wait 2-4 years for the PC port. After playing HZD may want to play HFW without having to wait 2-4 years for the PC port. And may also want to play the PS exclusives not ported to PC.

Very difficult to predict what could happen.
We don't know if they planned a long term strategy or wither they randomly decided to port games to squeeze more revenue.
The people in the top usually thinks quarterly revenue. That's because they want to exceed expectations for their next promotion and the big bonus check.
Jim is close to retirement, usually the worst guy to put on top because he is all about his retirement check at this stage.

Yup, show growth and pocket the incentives and leave others to deal with the fallout.... hope it's not like that.

In corporates It's usually like that.....That's the rule, and what you hope is the exception

So true and the incentives they set up to align the management and company can often have major downsides....
Agency theory can get quite complex.

That's the thing.

If someone did not buy a PS in the last 2-3 years and chose to ignore games like Spider-Man, TLOU, TLOU 2, Miles Morales, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, Bloodborne, etc. they will not buy a PS under any circumstance.

They aren't gonna come to Sony. If Sony wants to get some money from them, the only way is to go to them.

Exactly, most PC gamers that have invested in their hardware are not going to downgrade to a console. It's not like they don't have loads of exclusives on PC already and cheaper than console games.

You underestimate the patience of PC gamers not to mention they have about a billion other things to play so no one actually cares. We play the games when they come.
