Marathon feels like it should probably have been an expansion mode for destiny instead of a new game.

Don't see Marathon matching the 316k Steam CCU that Destiny 2 did. Should do 100k at most.
That's because a lot of the pc gamers are xbox refugees and they taint the pc conversation space with their shitty narratives.

A poll on resetera which bungie developers regularly visit had over 70% preference to arc raiders after both beta tests mark my words marathon is getting delayed till 2026 for changes to be made.
Arc raiders is more complete, marathon is a closed alpha
Still not a good look, games sales are largely due to hype cycles and Marathon seems to be coming out flat. They should delay it to 2026.
They should release the game when it’s ready, the feedback they have isn’t impossible for September
They will have an open beta that will be more complete and all the narratives now can be forgotten
We'll see I guess, they definitely need to shake up the perception right now and there's already a portion of people who will never give it another look because the first impression has already been made

Destiny 2 is a game for both SP/PvE players and PvP players. Marathon will be for PvP players only, and apparently a subset of somewhat hardcore ones (not as much as previous extraction shooters).
Meaning, in theory their potential user reach is smaller for Marathon, so pretty likely their sales and CCU peak too. And that's ok for them, Marathon isn't supposed to be a replacement for Destiny, but a complement instead.
At least at the start, Marathon's scope is way smaller by design. And pretty likely, after launch depending on performance they'd scale it up more or less as usual in GaaS.
Yep, blame Hermen and retards that pushed for PC ports. I was happy playing that damn game as were others who were online.
And now we will go through it all again with Maraton. So many negative videos on it.
It looks unique and its Bungie gunplay, I dont get the hate. Its an extraction shooter, if people dont like it, move along.
They will make another game for those wanting something else in the future. I find extraction shooters very difficult and intense but Im still gonna enjoy this based on gunplay alone

Marathon didn't do itself any favors by lifting NDA and not inviting nearly enough people for a good quality test. I had one friend get in, he played it for a couple of hours, but then he got into Arc Raiders, I'm hyped for Marathon but my friend was telling me Marathon doesn't even compare to Arc Raiders. If Marathon does suck, I'm still going to play it because of the worldbuilding.
It is not at all a "green rat" statement or "sony-hater" hivemind to say Marathon has competition and it's not mediocre competition. I never understood this pathetic tribalism, stop dismissing fair criticism of the game just because your beloved studio made it. I love Bungo no matter who owns it, but if Arc Raiders is doing better than Marathon, there is something wrong there because Marathon is AAA and Arc Raiders is literally made by the team who made The Finals.
