It is, it called M.2 socket.
It is technology used in PS5 to make most advance piece of kit in entirely world.

It’s not a normal commercial SSD. It’s custom built specifically for PS5. It’s tied to the I/O controller also.

You can still add an SSD to the PS5.

Yeah but when the SSD eventually dies, being able to replace it is important for the PS5's continued usability. What happens in 20ish years when the SSD is out of writes or dies in some fashion? Will adding an SSD make a PS5 work even if its internal SSD is dead?

The last thing anybody has to worry about is the built in SSD failing. It’s made to last.

It’s custom. You can’t compare to commercial SSD write longevity.
