It said the PC market’s sharpest decline in almost a decade was driven by geopolitical, economic and supply chain challenges affecting all regional markets.

The EMEA PC market experienced the biggest decline in PC shipments with a decline of 18%, followed by the US, where shipments fell 17.5%.

“The decline we saw in the first quarter of 2022 has accelerated in the second quarter, driven by the ongoing geopolitical instability caused by the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, inflationary pressure on spending and a steep downturn in demand for Chromebooks,” said Mikako Kitagawa, research director at Gartner.

“Supply chain disruptions also continued, but the major cause of PC delivery delays changed from component shortages to logistics disruptions. Enterprise buyers continued to experience longer PC delivery times than usual, but the lead times began to improve by the end of the second quarter, partially because key cities in China reopened in the middle of the quarter.

“To maintain profits as inflation increases costs, the PC industry is having to raise average selling prices (ASPs) despite weakening demand,” Kitagawa said.

“The reduction in the mix of PCs from Chromebooks, which tend to have low price points, and shift to premium products also helped increase the average ASP. However, an increase in inventory, especially in the consumer channel, could cause an ASP decline as vendors will try to lower inventory.”

It’s the supply chain issues.
The fact that you still cannot get msrp gpu 2 years after release. It should be half the price by now…
And the consoles are also hard to find.

I'm hoping I can do a build before next year and before I find a university for school. I'll need a new computer for school stuff as I feel I'm pushing the PC's I already own to the limit lol

I want to have my cake and eat it too though, I want to spend a bit more to get a gaming one too, but those GPU prices are fucking nuts right now. If I can't get a hold of a 3080 for a respectable price, I'm just settling for a lessor GPU and upgrading later on, used off of Ebay or some shit lol

Terrible prices, very few demanding games, very little gain from running games in high resolutions.

Why are you going to get ripped off trying to get a ridiculously expensive GPU? To play Cyberpunk with RT?

My old ass PC was still able to run Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3 just fine. What are the demanding games PC players are looking forward to anyway?

Nothing surprising here. You can’t easily find a GPU unless you want to massively overspend.

Dude...if it can do discord and porn, it's a perfect gaming PC.

Idk, but it's gonna need big boi hardware to run. There's a small but decent chance that there won't be a 60 fps mode on consoles, which means the PC version is automatically infinitely better.
Sad that this is the sort of game people have to look forward too on PC and Xbox, Ubisoft garbage.

Everybody?

I mean Chrome Books are cheap laptops that are indeed PCs.

"Ubisoft garbage" is quite popular with gamers. Playstation made several Ubisoft-type games, after all.
Their Ubisoft-type games are not their best and still are easily better than Ubisoft games. That says it all, find another angle, this one is not going to work.

Nvidia card pricing + crypto mining + supply chain problems + inflation = catastrophic mix.

The equation is affecting consoles too.

Pelosi and company ready for subsidies against the Red tide so... don't worry! :ROFLMAO:

I'm not sure what a lot of you guys are talking about. GPU's are no longer hard to find and they're all basically at MSRP now.
