Xbox - what needs to change?

If they want to be a platform holder they should do that by focusing on Windows and copying Valve Steam Machine model. How can Valve make a portable before MS, it makes no sense, Valve has to overcome a lot more challenges that are already solved by default for MS.
MS should give up on the idea that there is a quick way for them to dominate the gaming space, let go of it, admit that it ain't happening any time soon.
They pretty much already sabotaged this gen with the Series S, by getting desperate to beat Sony, spent $80+ billion and are putting themselves in a position where they are likely going to become mostly a third party company anyway.
Phil Spencer should publicly apologize to Xbox fans for the terrible job he has done producing games for the platform over all these years.

Odds are not much is going to change then, dude had more than enough time to show something. Xbox hardcore fans will keep getting the short end of the stick.
Imagine where Xbox would be if they had not spend that unholy amount of money to buy Activision Blizzard and Bethesda, they bought their way back into the game without actually fixing anything. Not to mention that Activision Blizzard and Bethesda were willing to be bought for very good reasons. I too would want to sell if my future was riding in Starfield, if I couldn't produce any game outside of CoD or if my big studio was an embarrassment like modern Blizzard is.
There is no short end of any stick
The big games are taking longer than expected to release but once they do it will be nothing be up from there

Something to add - I don't think the hardcore fans help either. The ones that don't admit the faults and the criticism, the minority that make the majority look bad.
Same thing that was being said years ago, then you got stuff like Halo Infinite, one of the worst lineup of all time for a console launch, a impressively bad 2022, games entering development hell, Starfield looking like that, etc.
Please, enlighten me, what are the game you are confident about that are coming to Xbox? I'm not saying they are all going to be bad, I just am not seeing the appeal in most of them.

The ironic thing about it, is that the opposite fanatics on either side are actually helping the console/platfomr they "hate" to be better.
Years ago Xbox had like 4 or 6 1st party game studio only wile now they will have more than 30 so you comparing then to now is a bad example

Starfield looks great what are you talking about? It has the whole galaxy as playable area that scale and scope is unheard of
2023 Xbox will have Redfall, Starfield & Forza Motorsport that 3 game right there are Mega AAA especially Starfield
It took multiple gens to get all of Sony's studios to where they are now and still there are some issues. You think every one of MS internally managed studios is going to be putting out 10/10 bangers?
Its going to take some stumbles and failures to have self reflection/feedback on said projects. I hope all the games they have are bangers, I'll play them all on PC. But after all the bad press, 343 issues, and multiple reports of development issues i just dont have as much faith. On top of when A/B finalizes next year, theres going to be a overhall of upper management, teams. I mean still no one has tried putting Vicarious Visions and Toys4bob back to the way they were pre-COD machine.
If by next year we dont see anything substantial from internally managed teams not including redfall/Starfield, then I think Booty needs to go, and Phil hopefully will be looking for new team to lead software division.
As they should, why would anyone not want better games? That's why I don't relate to Xbox fans at all. I didn't see any PlayStation fan defending Destruction AllStars but plenty of Xbox fans were there justifying Crackdown or pretending Halo or Starfield have great graphics or pretend to be excited about stuff like a Dusk Falls or Penitent. There ain't no PlayStation fan pretending to be excited about Goodbye Volcano High. No Sony fan is pretending to be excited because Bloodborne is on PS+, almost everybody who was interested already played it and you could've bought the game for very little all this time.
Xbox fans have this very odd eclectic taste that changes according to what MS makes available to them. They hate Kojima until MS gets in a deal with him then suddenly they are interested. They didn't bother with Yakuza, then became huge Yakuza fans, then the games left gamepass. the when they come back they are excited because they get to play it but shouldn't they have played it already? Same story with Persona and so on. Then all of the sudden all the can think of is how cool it would be for CoD to become exclusive. Being an Xbox fan is like joining a cult at this point.
