Hey I get it, that Sony made many questionable decisions and ergo much of I can not identify with. I absolutely understand the disappointment of you guys, trust me as long-time fan of PlayStation I do share your sentiment.
Also today's news about Square Enix going Multi-platform, is indeed not the best news we had recently. Or the talks about Sony wanting to scorch devastating $26B in their Pictures divisions over the money maker PlayStation No 1. I do side with everyone who is utterly disappointed, because I also did lose somewhat my confidence in Sony. I have zero clues why Sony is making all these obscure decisions. But needless is to claim they are dead. PlayStation will be dead when they end up as Xbox. Selling PlayStation on Xbox levels, losing 3rd Party exclusivity. Then you can all say, you where right. As of now we shouldn't wager to much into today's news. I think FF17 and KH4 will be pretty much Sony exclusive. The new CEO Kiryuu just turned out be a bigger moron than Matsuda. Time will tell, where this will all unfold...

Sounds like a doom post to me...

But you're right.

I think the showcase will lift a lot of spirits though. We will have a showcase snack thread and live chat on the discord and other fun stuff.

Negative posts are just a symptom of Sony's decisions but I think we have a really great community here.

Is there any good news related to Sony?

Even among my friends, there are those who are ready to build a new PC and put XSX and PS5 on the shelf. They bought most of Sony's games at launch, and now some of them are ready to refuse to buy them on PC, or just get them "for free".

Personally, I'm thinking about a similar step, but instead of a new PC, I'll buy a SteamDeck2 or its equivalent if someone unexpectedly releases a better device with similar functionality (touchpads, stability, etc.).

There needs to be a minimum of 3 major announcements that are not remakes or pc ports to get everyone hyped for ps5 again. It's so easy for Sony to win us back.

I'm really hoping they don't disappoint us again this year

Nooooo, you're just being gloomy.

Let's wait for the showcase, there will definitely be new single IPs, revival of classics, announcement of the purchase of Rockstar and EA, as well as a new expensive Mass Effect 4, which will be made together with Sony, and will take into account all the mistakes of ME3.

There was also DaysGone 2, but I was waking up at this point...

It's Sony's fault not ours, we have like 5 years + of awful commutation and messaging.

I didn't want to be a doomer at all, I wanted to be excited and confident enough to upgrade to a PS5 Pro. For over 10 years I was extremely satisfied by what Sony was doing, up until about 2018~2019.

I'm not a big Nintendo fan, I'm not interested in most of their series but right now I'm a lot more interested in what Nintendo has planned with the Switch 2 (at least I know it's happening next year and the initial lineup of games of the Switch was great).

Most of the studios that got me excited in the past about PlayStation have become extremely unproductive and secretive. I can't get excited about stuff that could still be years away and that we haven't even heard the name of. Everything about Sony is a secret, its a secret if there is going to be an event, it's a secret what studios are working on, it's a secret why we should be excited about the future of PlayStation, it's a secret what their plans are regarding PC.

Cerny hasn't let me down and the PS5 has been fine but something felt off all along, all the excitement from the PS4 days is gone.

The doom will die down tomorrow with the fiscal report. 2023 was a record year after the shortages and the mega surprise hit of Helldivers 2 will help a lot.

It's going down after that tho 😅

And if you think Sony are going to acquire Square-Enix now? That dream died at least a year ago. Though, I personally never saw Sony acquiring them as a necessity.

Between Sony and Microsoft of late (just talking platform holders), I've learned one valuable lesson: don't get your hopes up.

Don't get hyped. Don't have high expectations. Don't expect sensible decisions. With that, you can't really be let down if and when they let you down.

Doom is only ever going down when they show the upcoming games PlaysStation will have for the next 4-5 years (assuming that they have them).

That is the big difference between this gen and last gen, not Sony financial situation. Last gen at this point we already had God of War, TLoU Pt 2, Spider-man, all announced and games like Bloodborne and Horizon Zero Dawn released.

Ive never been a doom and gloom poster Until PS5.
I see what I see. Even during the PS3 early years I knew PS was gonna be more than fine.
PS5 is a great console but lots of changes where I predict it wont go well for them unless they change.

Too many software mistakes. Factions 2, Star Wars KOTOR and many more cancelled games.
Hardware mistakes = PC releases.

Sony and some of the fans who support PC releases will release what a mistake it is, when SteamDeck release a console that sells cheaper software than PSN, alot more features, also sells Playstation games and is free to go online.
Playstation will then see Steam as the competition they are.

Well she is right with her claim that they lost Atlus and Falcom as exclusive partners, but today's news doesn't say that Square will stop doing exclusive deals with Sony. All these Nintendo and PC fanboys are jumping on the Doom train.
