What outside of Yusuke is AC: Shadows doing that is supposedly so historically inaccurate?
Naoe. they are calling her shinobi, which is not accurate as it would be called Kunoichi.
second, only one female ninja is known and her name is not Naoe.

third, one character is fictional and another real person? so both fictional or non.

why not use Akechi? Hideyoshi? Tokugawa? Yukimura? Date? great japanese figures.

Damn this story right here would be so bad ass!

Nakano Takeo (One of many historic female Samurai).

Nakano Takeko led a group of samurai women into battle against the forces of the Meiji Empire and died tragically young during the Battle of Aizu at Aizuwakamatsu castle. She was famed for her prowess with a naginata. Nakano and her fellow onna-bugeisha fought bravely, but they were outnumbered and outgunned by the enemy. Nakano was mortally wounded in the battle, and she is said to have asked her sister to cut off her head so that it would not fall into enemy hands.

The Battle of Aizu is considered the last stand of the onna-bugeisha, and Nakano Takeko is widely believed to be one of the greatest female samurai warriors

Hmmm, there wasn't nothing about her in Rise of the Ronin. Maybe because battle was in other region then the main game.
Game was set in that period of time and share the same war in 1868.

Crazy because she is considered one of the greatest female Samurai. I hope they create a game behind this person it just oozes action and would be so good if done correctly.

What I gather is
  • Old games with fictional protagonists are fine
  • having Yasuke is not fine because of his disputed samurai status and because he's black
  • having Naoe is not fine because she is fictional
  • having both is bad because they are or, not either.

Kunoichi is the female term for Shinobi. If called some dude a Ninja, would you also correct them and change the term to Shinobi, or vice versa?

Sounds like an excellent idea. These would also make a great story for some spy game.

Freddie, who was just 14 when she began to work for the resistance, was often mistaken for a schoolgirl and was dispatched as a courier delivering important messages during the occupation. But later, all three young women worked to seduce Nazis: applying makeup and bright red lipstick to pick up soldiers at bars and lure them to their deaths.

“Ha Heinz, come here,” they would call, often pretending to be drunk when they struck up conversations with their targets.

Hannie, barely 20 when the Netherlands was invaded, made a point of teaching herself German for the work. Lithe and striking, with red hair and milky white skin, she became an expert at starting seemingly casual conversations with Dutch Nazis and German soldiers. Suggesting that they accompany her on romantic walks to the woods, they would often be shot dead by her male comrades who were lying in wait.

While the three young women often relied on the men of the resistance for the ambush and shooting, they were not shy about using guns themselves and became expert at shooting targets from their bikes. In addition to German soldiers, they also went after Dutch collaborators, Poldermans said.

There is ninja and shinobi.
Male ninja, female ninja.
Male shinobi, female kunoichi.

At this point, it is like beating dead horse. Everything was said already, who wanted, understood already. Time is to move on.

Ninja and Shinobi are the same thing, both words refer to the same thing. You just proved me right.

I don’t care if he’s real (he obviously is).

Either make him the sole protagonist or just make a traditional Japanese inspired game. I could give two fucks about this particular guy. There’s already work inspired by him, and I’m not particularly confident Ubisoft will do the story justice anyway, since like most are saying it’s a video game and they will enforce creative license. Might as well just make a fictional samurai up completely then and maybe have Yasuke as an NPC? I don’t know, it’s all silly.

You know I don't know what they did here but would be dope if the story centered around Yasuke true story or close to it and the ultimate goal or ending would be you reaching Samurai status. That would have had my attention.
