i don't think people understand the impact a game like GTA 6 will have on PS5 sales

Sony predicts that by April 2025 there will be 77,3M PS5s in the market, a game like GTA 6 will be released at Fall 2025, meaning PS5 will probably already have surpassed 80M+ units sold when the game officialy launches, if not more (like 83 - 85M+), now, we're talking 80 - 85M PS5s in the end of 2025, then a game like GTA 6 comes out, with PS5 bundles on all possible stores you can imagine like Wallmart, Target, Best Buy and etc, the amount of PS5s that will be sold thanks to GTA 6 is unpredictable, the predecessor sold 200 MILLION units lifetime across 3 generations of consoles and PC, imagine the amount of PS5s that will be sold with GTA 6 on the box for Christmas 2025, we could be talking about 10M+ units sold in 2 months, we could be talking about PS5 surpassing 100 MILLION units sold 2 years before PS6 releases

i think it's VERY possible, when it's all said and done that PS5 surpasses 130/140M units lifetime, being among the 4 best selling consoles in HISTORY and surpassing the PS4

I don't think people understand the impact that even a RDR2 patch would have, that would be a great title for the PS5 Pro launch if they add PSSR and RT.

It pisses me off that it hasn't happened yet, PS5 Pro is the last chance, what an easy win.

yeah they plan to sell 18M from now til April 2025, bringing lifetime sales of the PS5 to 77M, there will be another 7 months between April 2025 and November 2025 when GTA 6 probably releases, so it'll be enough time for PS5 to surpass 80M+ mark, meaning that when GTA 6 arrives, PS5 will be at 80M+, then, and only then, the effect of sales the release of GTA 6 will begin, if this game sells 10M PS5s, it'll bring PS5 lifetime to 90M, if it sells 20M PS5s, it'll bring it to 100M+, this, 2 years before PS6 releases, then if Sony ships 20M in FY26 and 15M in FY27 that would already put PS5 above 120M units

not only PS5 will be the definitive place to play this game cause you can bet 100% Sony will have some kind of exclusive Quest/Skin/Car whatever, but it'll be the best place to play it on launch because of the PS5 Pro

Unless it gets another dye-shrink and a big price cut I don't think it beats PS4. Look at that massive "rest of world" category the 4 has, you don't get that at 500 dollars for the disc drive version. Especially if the PS6 is a 2027 device.

Switch 2 hasnt been announced, but I still think it wont come to Switch 2. If it doesnt, then PS5 has good times in front of it, no matter what anyone says.

GTA V was the perfect storm. You had a release at the tail end of the console generation,so around 160M/170M boxes that could play the game.

First GTA truly designed for online play

Then a next gen release

After that PC. Where the game exploded on twitch thanks to RP servers and modding. It was also an amazing port that scaled really well, playable on cards like the 8800GT from a top of the line at the time GTX TITAN X

Abd years after that new console versions.

I dont see that happening with GTA VI. Besides GTA Online will have a lot more content than GTA Online 2 at launch so they could canibalize each other.

Some people don't want to wait to play such an anticipated game. As well, most console players don't concern themselves with the benefits or drawbacks of other platforms. They just play games and have fun.
