Famitsu Sales: 3/11/24 – 3/17/24 [Update]

Famitsu has published its estimated physical game software data for Japan for the week of March 11, 2024 to March 17, 2024.

Famitsu has published its estimated physical game software data for Japan for the week of March 11, 2024 to March 17, 2024.
Unicorn Overlord for Switch remained the top selling game following its debut the previous week with an additional 16,012 retail copies sold, followed by Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for PlayStation 5 with an additional 11,497 copies sold.
The Switch version of MACROSS Shooting Insight was the only new game release to chart in the top 10, moving 6,961 retail units.

On the hardware side, the Switch family sold 42,883 units, the PlayStation 5 family sold 26,516 units, the Xbox Series family sold 1,496 units, and the PlayStation 4 family sold 588 units.

A bit better legs percentage wise for this week for Rebirth, but in total units, still down from FFXVI.

Really good 2nd week performance for Unicorn Ovelord, at least for the Switch SKUs(we'll have to wait for Top 30 to see the PS4/PS5 performance)
A 61% drop of a SRPG like UO is a very great drop, I guess they found some more copies somewhere to address some of the shortages. Could've been a much bigger launch for the game, but it is what it is.

Next week might be potentially worse drop for the game as they've most likely exhausted all the copies they had on hand.



As for hardware, everything is down from last week, so nothing exciting here.

Rebirth barely holds over 10k.
There are reports already saying it is going bargain bin prices to increase sales.

No Square Enix PR after 3 weeks probably mean it did shipped+digital less than FFXVI.
Others chats across the world shows the same trend of lower units sold than FFXVI.

Not good at all.
And yes the decline is very real no matter how you hated me saying it few weeks ago.

I was honestly thinking expecting it but after we got the UK data I figured that wasn't gonna be the case at all. It is unfortunate because I think they did a bang up Job with this game and have potential to have a massive spin game if executed properly.

I think splitting things up maybe have backfired a little.
