Gaming and off topic.

Industries, communities, and reviews are ghost towns.

At this moment in time the forum isn't populated enough for all these different sub sections.

Anything that gets put in industry seems like it's trying to get hidden

I've actually said tht before to Bryan anything gaming related should just be put in gaming whether it's layoffs, industry ppl, etc I'll bring it up to him again. He has a different reasoning for some of these things.

We have it already and nobody uses it. You created this thread in this forum's "Off Topic" section. I have never seen so little interest in non-gaming topics on a gaming board, it's kind of wild. We could have a thriving off topic if they allowed the adults to discuss things that matter but evidently this is not desirable.

We can consolidate things a bit.

I will discuss merging Gaming and Game industry (which used to be an area for discussing graphics and technical specs etc)
But was converted into an overflow, basically.

We might merge community and off topic... but I'm less sure about how we can accommodate feedback and meta-commentary that way...

What type of things do you want to discuss?

The issue is that it introduces very difficult to moderate topics... where it's less clear who is right or wrong and bans could become more common.

We could make it private and only subs to icon era can view it. (Trying to fund my trip to the Bahamas)

Basically I like the platform Gaf was when I joined there. It was primarily a gaming board, but it had an OT section which was very active for non-gaming media, social issues, politics, etc. This is interesting and important stuff and dovetails with our main concern gaming quite frequently. That we consider this completely off limits is sad I think. Moderating might be some additional work yes but from my perspective it was worth it because it creates a more vibrant and active community discussing more interesting things. We used to be able to do this.

All of the gaming boards are kind of in a not ideal state right now imo. But I do like this place the best of them all.

I personally would not mind it and i could even moderate it if needed.

Plus if i see some scumbags like @JAHGamer and @Old Gamer posting in it i could ban them on the spot. (No questions asked)

Saying that, the founders would have to agree to it.

Are you able to have sub sections in gaming similar to this forum It's the only forum I know that has an example of what I'm talking about If so you could have a technical, reviews and communities section in there.


  • Gaming
    • Technical Talk (Console Specs/ PC upgrades threads/Technical support)
    • Reviews/user gaming opinions (for posts like @thicc_girls_are_teh_best)
    • Communities
  • Off Topic

Communities should be older gaming OT's and icon era gaming sessions

(I've always kind of strange that these gaming forums don't have game nights where everyone just jumps on a game and plays🤷 (icon era tournaments?) ) There's so many crossplay games now it really doesn't matter what console/pc you have

Off Topic should be anything that is not gaming related.

With the forum still growing you don't want spread the user base to thin. You should try and consolidate people into two areas

Also you need to look at the pinned threads some of them just seem so random, Sometimes it looks like you guys are afraid of threads dying

Also all the OT need to have the same title format [OT] / |OT| or whatever you go with

Updated a bit based on some of your suggestions. I will be doing more and getting feedback along the way.

Next step will be to reorganize the nodes based on activity / usefulness and eliminating one or two of them, to streamline everything.
