Capcom posts their localization philosophy and it's as bad as you expect (really about inclusivity).

Localization efforts extend to promoting inclusivity through language and representation. This involves adapting not only the linguistic aspects but also addressing gender-specific language, cultural norms, and diverse perspectives. The aim is to create an immersive experience where players from different backgrounds can identify with the characters and narrative. This can be very challenging for certain languages due to grammar

We know what this really is. They have been infiltrated smfh. This is inclusivity pandering and bending the knee to those vocal groups.

"Localization isn't just about translating words; it's about adapting the game for a global audience. "

Wth is this supposed to mean?

"Lost in Translation? Nah! Preserving the vibe is key. Jokes, references, and even gameplay elements might need a little cultural remix"

culturax remix? Feck is that?

"Character design and development must be culturally sensitive. What may be acceptable in one culture might be offensive in another. Localizers play a crucial role in ensuring that characters are relatable and respectful, avoiding stereotypes or other references that could be perceived as negative in specific cultures."

Avoiding stereotypes? Really?

"Humor often relies on cultural references and wordplay, making it a challenging aspect of game localization. Translators must carefully navigate puns, jokes, and cultural references to maintain the intended comedic effect. This requires a deep understanding of the target audience's sense of humor while staying true to the original wit"

Cant go wild with jokes anymore huh?

I've been reading manga for decades and the fan translations are always 1000x better than the official localized release 🤦‍♂️ I don't even bother reading "official releases" anymore. These clowns are so annoying. Capcom needs to respect their devs/writers and nip this in the bud ASAP.

Seems to me that CapcomUSA is preparing something drastic and different for Resident Evil 5 remake

I get what you’re saying but this has also been true going back to the 80s. NES games were sanitized for American audiences, and adjusting story points and dialogue between the western and eastern release to better fit the cultures, again, goes back to the earliest days of gaming.

I know we are in a different climate right now, just saying that approach is nothing even close to new.

Reading between those lines seems like theyre doing something bigger than what the nes/snes doing back then

Japanese publishers trying to be part of the DEI racket is not going to go the way that they are anticipating.
