AMD's next-generation Zen 5-powered Ryzen 9 9950X processor is reportedly 46% faster in multi-threaded Cinebench R24 benchmarks, according to the very latest leaks.

The new Zen 5-powered Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X processors have also been tested against Intel's latest Core i9-14900K, Core i7-14700K, and Core i5-14600K processors. It's a fantastic spread of some of the most powerful, latest processors on the market.

Nice, obviously CPU doesn't matter as much when you're playing a single player game & we don't know the price, but I'm also interested in the APUs AMD will introduce in the future.

Probably gonna be upgrading from 5800X3D to 9800X3D. Leaked benchmarks seem promising

Not sure… the source is RedGamingTech.
Plus he says the clock is between 5.8-6.1Ghz that is where come most of the boost of the performance.

Needs tests with the same clock to see which is the real IPC increase.

Holy shit. Definitely going to upgrade from the 7950X, but not for gaming of course.

Hope the DDR5 memory controller is improved this time around.

22% single-threaded increase is crazy and now that I think about it, perhaps this can improve Dragon's Dogma 2 lmao

They've been coming out with improvements to the memory controller stuff because it can now run 7200+ mts ddr5, where it used to only do 5200 at launch. What they need to do is improved the infinity fabric clock as that's what's holding back the memory speed performance right now. In fact according to buildzoid it's easier to stabilize 7200+ on zen4 than it is on intel (it just makes your performance worse)

I went to a local computer shop the other day to get two monitors and I had a conversation with the owner, he explained to me that he was gradually pulling out of the personal PC part because built PCs.
The reasons are simple, most parts built since the pandemic are unreliable, even great brands like Asis, Gigabyte and MSI produce tons of faulty motherboards.

On the SSD side, the new memory types are fast AF, but they are also extremely short lived because of the added layers on their memory chips you have 1TB drives that have half the TBW written than whatever what available just a few years ago... but they are cheap, so most people just get the biggest one they can afford, then they wonder why they fail so fast (especially if they fill them up with games).

there's also a thing where memory manufacturers sometimes replace the flash modules with cheaper ones after reviews have gone out so they wear out much faster or perform worse than reviewed. Happened a lot in USB drives.

USB drives are garbage, I don't touch them anymore.

It seems like English is not your first language so please forgive me if I am misunderstanding what you said here, but it seems like you're saying that a computer store owner you spoke to is gradually getting out of stocking and selling PC components, "because built PCs"?

What do you mean by "because built PCs"?

What would he end up stocking and selling at his computer store if he did that?

pre-build. clearly he speaks about those. mine isn't first one too but it is easy to understand it.

Those prebuilt PCs have the same DIY components as the ones he sells unless he plans on only selling Dell or HP machines, or the NUCs which are now manufactured by Asus. The Dell and HP machines also tend to be far worse than DIY builds these days. So I don't know what the alternative for a PC store owner would realistically be. Maybe become some kind of independent Mac store? Only sell laptops?
