Luis Villegas, who has been with Bungie for fourteen years and served as the Chief Technology Officer since December 2020, has recently departed the company. He has now taken on the role of “CTO for the content vertical” at Sony PlayStation.

Bungie execs taking the money and running ps will take complete control and integrate it under ps. That's good for ps but there would be layoffs because of overlap with many non game dev roles. Operating Bungie directly under ps will be cheaper and more efficient.

This is the second time someone from Bungie has been promoted upwards to Sony.

This is evidence that there was some value in the acquisition. Taking their top talent and exposing them to the rest of PlayStation means they're seen as extremely valuable. They still will have some influence on Bungie and it also allows for people to potentially get promoted internally at Bungie.

Not sure how anyone could see this as a Sony takeover.

Well this is definitely good news and certainly the correct way to go about fostering and retaining talent so I applaud Sony for always promoting internal talent except Hermen and his guerilla lackey goons of course.

Hopefully this is a sign they are slowly attempting to integrate Bungie as well which should have been the case from the jump considering the amount of money spent.

Except "hermen and his goons" produced the most technically and graphically advanced game Sony 1st party has put out to date. You can blame their writers and game designers for making it boring if you want but you can't say anything about how technically proficient they are.

Pretty sure I am talking about Hermen and the people he's promoted within PlayStation from Guerrilla studios.

Ain't nobody was even talking bout Horizon lol
