Well, the path you take must take into account what you really want to do in this business. If you want just to be purely a Cinematographer ( or DOP most commonly refered to) I would suggest to not be alone in this process, go meet people already in the industry and some estabilished production...
That effect is called Temporal Ray Tracing Accumulation, derived from the techniques to denoise the ray casting pass. Will not go away until we have hardware powerfull enough to cast billions of rays instantly with no need for denoising pass.

Bought Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen for 3 euros and I'm replaying it. Haven't played it since the PS3 era, it's a great game, but the age is starting to show in some mechanics. But overall it was a game way ahead for it's time. Maybe I'll start a thread to go a bit deeper on it's game design...
