Always fun to see these kind of graphs which show trends and whatnot.
Look at those mobile graphs, this is both a product of casual phone gaming taking roots around the world, but also the rise of video game spending in all of Asia.

You can also see why more and more publishers are making an effort when it comes to PC ports.
Just look at how small the market was starting in the 00s and early 2010s.
You had a lot of folks saying that PC gaming was dead and for good reasons, console was gaining a lot of grounds. But beside mobile, this is the segment of gaming that has grown the most.
There's a reason why Gabe Newell from Valve has like 2 yachts and in the process of building and/or acquiring like 4 more in the next few years. Man is literally swimming in pools of money.

Also, woah, look at how much of the market arcades had at one point. These were different times.

So the candy crush sort is making the biggest bucks? Disappointed.

When it comes to mobile(I know it's vgsales, but most of their sources come mobile trackers like SensorTower etc): https://vgsales.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_mobile_games

You can look at the Top 20 and it's the usual suspects like Candy Crush/Clash of Clans and other long running mobile games, and a bunch of games you might've not heard of because most of their revenue comes from the trio of China/Japan/South Korea and other Asian countries.

We factor out mobile gaming (their not video games being the sole reason lmao) then it’s impressive how much games have evolved and devolved in its own special way.

Something about that doesn't look right; is this just factoring in 3P games? Because for 2022 Sony's PlayStation revenue alone would equal almost that entire console portion, and their revenue includes 1P and 3P cuts; the 3P cuts are more telling because those are from 3P games on Sony's own platform. Throw in Nintendo and Microsoft and the console segment should be well above $30 billion, so how exactly are these types of charts calculating their numbers?

It's always worth asking these questions because you never know if narratives are trying to be created with what appears to be innocuous information on the surface.

Where it’s at.
Man your Nintendo hate is silly lol.

TotK is better than anything on PS this year just FYI. :)
I don't hate Nintendo. I hate their breathless, brainless fans.

And DLC for a 7-year old game that was vastly overrated doesn't beat much of anything, especially when sold for full price.

Ahhh thts very subjective so don't jump out either with hyperbolic comments. I refused to buy totk because botw was so empty and boring to me and it looked like much of the same . Between Totk and Spiderman Both highly rated games though which some preferring one over the other for various reasons.

Also let's bring it back we are just talking about gaming let's not start going crazy.

Tears was like the final draft of Breath. Why it took 7 years is a mystery.

I assume it's solely about pure video game revenue.

The PlayStation 26.9B in FY 2022 is with everything. 8.2B of that number was hardware revenue.
I would assume that hardware sales revenue as well as Network Services and maybe a few other things are not counted, there's no real easy 1 for 1 equivalent in PC/Mobile space.

Or rather it would make for a dumb graph if you put the revenue of PC manufacturers and how much revenue they generated unto this image, same with Mobile. I mean... Apple generated 205B in revenue with their iPhones and 29B with their iPads in their FY 2022.

I'm seeing alot of new PSVR2 owners on Twitter. I'm curious to see Christmas sales numbers.

Also 4k plus sold in last month on Amazon U.S. Which isn't crazy numbers but I'm sure overall it sold a few hundred thousand worldwide over holidays. Meta Quest 3 says 40,000, plus sold in last month which is expected as it's new however meta 2 had something like 80,000 plus.

It's important to highlight that they counted Switch as a home console instead of a hanheld.

Meaning, part of the growth in home consoles starting in 2017 and death of portables is partially wrong.
