90% of Forza Motorsport Xbox players haven't completed a single online race

It's been two weeks since the early access launch of Forza Motorsport, and while plenty of players are checking out Turn 10's latest racing game, achievement data shows that not many are getting involved with Forza Motorsport's Featured Multiplayer

The In the Big Leagues achievement is one of the first achievements players will unlock when jumping into Featured Multiplayer — it's awarded when players complete their first introductory race in the multiplayer mode, and it's essentially impossible to miss if you are playing online. According to global Xbox achievement data, just 10% of Forza Motorsport Xbox players have the In the Big Leagues achievement, which means 90% haven't are yet to complete a single online race. Out of the Forza Motorsport players on TrueAchievements, around 20% have unlocked the achievement (we need to pump that percentage up, people!).

We're not exactly too sure why so few Xbox players are playing Featured Multiplayer. It could be that races have long, mandatory practice sessions that range from 5-20 minutes, depending on when you join — this could easily put off those who just want to get straight into the action. Races in the introductory series are also pretty long, consisting of seven/eight lap events that will take a good chunk of time to complete. Of course, it could also just be the mere thought of racing online with other players (who we all know like to ram others off the track) is enough to keep people from attempting an online race. There is also the fact that the percentage will be slightly inflated by Xbox players who have started Forza Motorsport via Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, maybe completed a couple of career mode races, and realized that the game wasn't for them.

It's a similar story over on Steam. According to Steam global achievement unlock data, around 27% of all Forza Motorsport players on the platform have the In the Big Leagues achievement, and while it is higher than the Xbox percentage, it's still surprisingly low. Of course, the reason why the percentage is likely higher here is down to Game Pass once again. Steam players would have had to purchase the game, meaning they are likely more invested than Xbox with its Game Pass subscribers, who maybe fired up Forza Motorsport through their subscriptions to see what it was all about before going back to something else.

A few other interesting Forza Motorsport achievements tidbits relating to Featured Multiplayer include: Only 8% of players have completed a clean qualifying lap, just 6% of players have managed a podium finish, and around 1% of players have held an S-rank Safety Rating across five consecutive Featured Multiplayer events. Of course, the achievement for holding a S-Rank Safety Rating across ten consecutive Featured Multiplayer events is even lower.

Turn 10 recently rolled out Forza Motorsport's first major update, which included progression tweaks, a bunch of welcome fixes, and stability improvements. The developer has also promised that further improvements, changes to gameplay systems, and new content will be coming to the game each month.

Most games on Game Pass will see big drop off.

Take Starfield, 27% of people didn't even get the first achievement (take off in your ship), and 44% of people didn't yet get to joining Constellation.

Or Forza Horizon 5, 32% of people didn't complete the opening demo race.

Shill learns what the general public thinks of his favored multiplayer modes. But it is a racing game, should be higher than that.

Also, mandatory five to twenty minute practice session? That sounds godawful.

For comparison GT7 has similar data.

Only 12..9% of owners finished a Sport Mode race.
That means 87.1% never completed a single online race… that is very close to Forza Motorsport.

I don’t know why that became an article because it is very common that most play the offline modes for these type of games.

Regardless if other games have similar stats it's still interesting data hence why it became an article. Games having a big online focus hardly having anyone complete an online race isn't a good thing, later on when those things are removed then ppl will cry. It's like saying person A gets food poisoning at restaurant A but it also happened at restaurant B so why is it in the paper? I don't understand your logic sometimes.

I can't talk about Forza because we don't know the numbers behind it.

But 10% (in this case 12%) from GT7 probably way over 500k players.
That is not low for a online community.

The fact you can fire up the game and get fast in the lobby races shows it doesn't lack online races happening.

I loved Forza when they had a full race campaign offline (I think that was 2 on 360?) and then you could go online with all your tuned cars in public or private lobbies. The online lobbies were very full even a year after launch.

On topic: Is this just the Gampas effect? People trying the game that really were not interested, and then dropping it almost immediately after trying it out?
